The World's football governing body, FIFA via its Forward Program (launched in 2016), reported it has spent, through the Nigerian Football Federation, about $2m in building an artificial pitch in Birnin-Kebbi and another under construction in Ugborodo, Delta State.

Football enthusiasts have called out the NFF former and present Executive for having embezzled the funds.

That's around 367 billion naira. This year, Anambra is spending 607 billion naira ....on budget

So, the state should take half its budget and spend it on stadium?

Normally amaju pinnick that was the nff chairman when fifa released those millions of dollars to build the mini stadiums in nigeria is a criminal he has embezzled the money using it to be organising warri again show.

Mischievous people on X and stupid followers.
$2.4 cannot build the stadium in Kenya used for comparison.
Even if the NFF officials involved embezzled some of the money,it can only come in form of shortchanging the payment for the labourers or reducing the number used or in form of telling the contractor to give them a cut.
If for example the contractor's legit payment is N100m,NFF officials may pressurize him to give them 30m directly from his own cut,not from the Fifa source funds

The blame should rather be directed at FIFA instead of Nigeria as a country.

This is so because the NFF officials couldn't have embarked on this obvious malfeasance without the active connivance and collaboration with the FIFA officials who oversaw the projects.

FIFA, as a body, are not in themselves sincere when it comes to financial transactions.

Many FIFA officials including its past presidents had been indicted in the past over their involvement in one shady deal or another

A thorough and forensic investigation has to be done in order to fish out the culprits and their individual roles in this monumental scam.

Which was the cost over ten years ago. Inflation and changes in standards means cost has increased

Also, state budgets are all planned out. Even assuming Anambra spent 97m dollars which is 142 billion naira, the money has to be replaced meaning loans again.

all you saying does not justify why a stadium of at least 20 to 25k capacity should not be built in anambra

Caf and Fifa is enjoying their rules.
There must be non interference by the government in football administration. So, those guys there become demigod and do what they like.

So, from Fifa to Caf to Nff should get out.
We know on Nigeria system any public money disbursement ends up in private pocket especially if public monitoring is absent.

Did Akwa Ibom ppl need a stadium when Akpabio built one for them . If Akpabio had not built such an edifice the Super Eagles will be without a stadium to play international matches. When it comes to infrastructure PO is no where to be found bro . Keep PO out of this sh!t

Anambra was then battling poverty, insecurity, lack of education, high rate of employment.
He should have left those to start building stadium like Umahi did by building flyovers and airport that his people doesn't need?
Govt is about understanding the need of the people and solving it. Thats what govt is. Not building elephant projects.
Umahi airport today is now been used for church service😂 it is now a big liability to the state
Imagine he invested that money in agriculture, imagine the numbers of ebonyi people that he would have lifted from poverty.
