DoTheNeedful:We can all see who haven't truly lived in the US. You made bold assertions but turned around to claim I did. You forgot there are about 50+ states in the US with different SOL, yet you used one brush to paint all of them. You typed so naively that it truly shows your kind of person. Having a haircut varies depending on where you live in the US, same is Nigeria. You can't use the upper side of the US to compare the lower parts of Nigeria when doing comparison. Where they cut hair for ₦75k naira equivalent in the US can be compared to where they cut hair for 10k upwards in Nigeria. |

Great100000:Complete bullocks! First, thank God you said FEW YEARS AGO. Today, 1.5m cannot do much. Cost of electricity alone can take 10% of that earnings except you decide to do illegal bypass. School fees? Rent? Just prepare to realize that 1.5m is advanced lower class. Then unless you're an illegal immigrant, why would you earn less than the minimum wage in the US? The US Iis NOT like Nigeria, so it the minimum wage is set, you cannot be paid lower than that per hour. So this analogy is DOA please |

I think the guideline in Lagos is that your annual rent should not be more than twice your monthly salary. So, with 1.5m monthly, it's still olay to pay 3m for rent annually. Vision101: |

Hmmm, i agree. But being homeless isn't a nice thing at all, I tell you. It's not like Nigeria that you can live with a friend or relative for months without any income. Rent is paid monthly, if you do not pay, you'll be evicted. Michaelajah: |

Don27tiky:I think this comparison is better now. Well, for me personally I think the US earner has a better life than the person earning 15m in Nigeria. |

Folks should learn to read properly, which -obviously - those bashing OP did not. Yes, he might have erred in the direct dollar to naira comparison, which we all agree is meaningless: 1.5m in Nigeria is NOT the same as $1000 in USA. The very valid point he made is that if the needed structure, systems & facilities are in place, the income one receives will have greater VALUE attached to it. |

What is the probability of earning N1,500,000 monthly in Nigeria? Now compare that with the probability of earning $1,500 monthly in the US. Using the minimum wage calculation, i will tell you that everyone working in the US earn more than $1500 monthly. This is not the case in Nigeria. So, when you compare, think through it and stop disturbing those that want to japa. |

Even most homeless people in America are making more than $1k per month. My hotel room alone was over $200 per day last time. |

Ask your friend that is earning a thousand dollars to give you money for anything ,he won't be able to offer 100 dollars but the one earning 1.5m naira can afford to give you more than hundred dollar value .. |

DoTheNeedful:If you earn 1.5m naira per month in Nigeria, you are considered a big and can live a very good life in Nigeria. With 3000 dollars a month in the USA, you are considered a poor man. You cannot even be able to afford your bills. |

FreeIgboho:Stop deceiving yourself. Why is it that you see illegal migrant Nigerians in the US taking to their heel anytime they see police? Is because they know how much they are making compared to when they are in nigeria. So they fear deportation. Coz nothing dey nigeria. |

43Ronin:Canadian dollar btw. See, this is exactly why this japa mentality is so bad. People save much more than that in Nigeria doing all sorts of things. But if as a young person your thoughts are focused on abroad as the only place that is possible, how can you posibly see any opportunities in a "shit hole" like Nigeria!

FreeIgboho:The simple answer: 1 the products are from China. 2 the Nigerian currency is weaker than pounds sterling. 3 logically a Chinese amount converted to both currencies should result to Nigerian price being higher than UK price. 4 why then is the UK price higher than Nigerian price? 5 answer: tax and trade policies. There is higher tax in UK than Nigeria. The trade policies encourages importation in Nigeria but discourages same in UK. |

silibaba: Goo0dHardDick:Even Nigerians in third world like India or Ghana do same. Even homeless people in Lagos will run if they think you'd deport them to the village. But wow! What a mindset to have about a country you have to live in. If you think nothing dey Nigeria, nothing go dey Nigeria FOR YOU! Same Nigeria that produces "money na water" people everyday |
