The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has described as very embarrassing the resignation of Bayelsa State governor, Douye Diri, from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Recall that the governor was chairing the PDP zoning committee for the elective national convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, when he quit the party.

Speaking during a media chat on Friday in Abuja, Wike said Diri’s decision to leave the PDP was disappointing.

“It is very embarrassing. The governor was the chairman of the convention committee. Diri was the chairman of the zoning committee. Even though I knew from the beginning that they were all playing games,” he said.

By decamping to the APC, they have neutralised his perceived hold on the party while leaving him with little to no leverage in his bargain with Tinubu. Even if Wike decamps to the APC today, he would take his place behind other leaders like Akpabio, Oshiomhole, even governor Sheriff in the Southsouth.

Wike has been able to plot his game in such a way that he doesn't need to be a member of APC to be relevant in an APC government. Those migrating to APC are seeking relevance.

How many people can Tinubu eventually handover tickets to? He's obviously prioritising decampees over long-term loyalists. All the erstwhile members of APC in Enugu have decamped to the ADC and these are just early days. In the end, the old members will work against the party while the supporters of the new party are still not totally convinced to work for Tinubu. There will be internal sabotage from those who will not be bold enough to decamp.

You know this game.
They are sitting Governors with huge allocations to spare and are technically his seniors in the Party the day he decides to defect. Infact, he overplayed himself and forced them to exit the Party, he is getting stranded by the day. The Party is locking out his allies like Ikem, Orbih, Anyanwu & co.... So his choices are slimmer.

So it will end up being just All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2027!?.

To be honest with you, your boasting is of no value because you wrote about the 2027 election but here is a president who could change the date of the election to 2026 October if he wants and once his game plan is completed.
