Nnamdi Kanu Arrives In Court, Reaffirms Faith In Justice Amid Media Displeasure by Metrix147(op): 9:42am On Oct 27, 2025
The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on Monday arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja for the continuation of his trial, ABN TV reports.

Kanu, who has been representing himself in court following the withdrawal of his legal team, was visibly composed as he entered the courtroom. Addressing the media, he affirmed his confidence in divine justice, declaring, “God in Heaven is the God of Justice.”

The IPOB leader, however, frowned at a recent report by a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), which he claimed misrepresented him. While he did not go into detail, Kanu expressed disappointment over what he described as a biased portrayal, insisting that truth and justice would prevail.

Monday’s proceedings follow a series of recent dramatic developments in the trial, including Kanu’s decision to personally take over his legal defense and his continued demand to be transferred from the DSS detention facility to a correctional center.

The case continues to generate significant public interest across Nigeria and internationally, with human rights groups, legal observers, and pro-Biafra supporters closely monitoring the outcome.

He either opens his defence as ordered by the court or the court will foreclose him and give its judgment. Either way, I'm looking at, at least, 20 years imprisonment to be served in the notorious Wawa Prison built for people of his kind in Niger State.

All this na waste of time and court process

Even if the court finds him not guilty, the FG will still not release him...

The grand plan is for him to grow old and die in jail.

This guy don't want to learn

Life has been trying to teach him a number of good and hard lessons, but he has been refusing to learn.

That is the fate of anyone who has a clique of praise singers behind them that chants their praise even while they jump into the f i r e s of their own making.

But how many people are with me who think that this man may be mentally challenged? undecided

He has until Friday to present and close his defense.

Instead of taking a plea deal his lawyers were proposing after the '' No case submission '' was rejected by the judge , he went and sacked his lawyers.

After the judge threw away his 90 day window , he is now stuck on his own .

Such arrogance can only come from one with stark ignorance .

He's very right, what is there to defend?

Accusing someone of terrorism without providing ingredients of terrorism found on him.

They real Case should be first court settle the jurisdiction of him to face trial, no saying he should add that among the written defense after his defense.

It shows they are not out for justice.

God bless Mazi Nnamdi Kanu

Nnamdi kanu should hire a good lawyer to defend him...though he's intelligent but then this is not about smartness but able to understand how to use the law to defend yourself...lawyers read law to know how to use it to defend their clients

I hate ipob but right now I'm supporting kanu as a person.

I love his boldness and confidence. I am optimistic he will overcome this and secure his freedom.

Mazi I wish you all the best and God's guidance as you journey through your defense.

May chukwu okike Abiama see you through.

He is no more talking about one "Okike Abiama" deity of the ancient precolonial Igbo.

He is now focused on the "God of Justice."

Okay he should fall for your Nigeria government I'm intimidation?

It took your Nigeria government 5 to com up with their lies and false accusations, but you give him 6 days for his defense.

Does that show they're out for justice

Even the name "Wawa Prison" strikes cold fear into the heart of man pikin. Kanu will have decades to grow old and sick in solitary confinement, during which time he will contemplate the monumental blunder he committed in rashly presuming that his advocacy of violent bloodshed would only harm his victims and the apprehended gunmen who pulled triggers to spill blood on Kanu's orders.

As he slowly loses what is left of his tenuous sanity in his squalid jail cell, Kanu will ruminate over nightmarish options deep down in the dungeon where the sun never shines and where forgiveness cannot be found.

By choosing to represent himself in court, Kanu again demonstrates his arrogance and sense of grandiose entitlement. By becoming his own lawyer, Kanu has GUARANTEED he will be sentenced to between 20 and 30 years in jail without the option of a fine.

The judge knows the truth and the right thing to do, but he's just acting scripts by Nigeria government.

He's just executing government plan.

His jail cell is being fortified as at now!

He has no right to speak of justice to anyone. By his hateful and hate filled utterances he started something he is unable to finish and spearheaded the deaths of many deceived youths and other innocent victims of his succession movement.

Extra ordinary rendition will not absolve him of the responsibility he bears for the consequences of his words, actions and inactions.

He will go to jail and Nigerian government will take a slap on the wrist for the manner invoked to bring a fugitive to justice.

Nothing will happen when he gets handed down a life sentence.

Injustices and nepotism prevails in Nigeria but that does not mean a criminal fugitive should escape justice because other terrorist have not be brought to justice!

If only the people who keep shouting about the unfairness of repentance in the north and repression in the east, could just read your words.

Expecting justice to take its course with Kanu does NOT mean that one supports allowing northern terrorists to "repent" and avoid justice.

Maybe, now that there has been a major shake-up in the Nigerian military, the era of "repentant" terrorists will be replaced with true justice.

Shake up has nothing - zero - zilch - to do with improving security or seeking better justice.
In fact we are given to understand that the sacked CDS was against the idea of "repentant" terrorists and that the administration is in favour of that idea.

This is what we Igbos refuse to appreciate.
The accused has no right to accuse others and insist he shouldn’t be tried because other criminals who are guilty are escaping justice.

The wheels of justice are very slow in Nigeria and sometimes never come, but whoever is unfortunate enough to be held should be tried conclusively without prejudice.

Everything Nnamdi Kalu boasted with disappointed, God will also not rescue as there’s no Injustice with God!

With the number of appearances he has made in court since his trials, deciding to represent himself is not totally odd . He should be a good lawyer by now
