Kukutente23:You don't understand how the forex market works. The BDC operators have been accused of hoarding the greenback and subsequently using their forex allocations to speculate market. This practice has been blamed as one of the bane of Nigeria's foreign exchange challenges. Hence, why the CBN took that power from them by cutting their supplies. They should go and source for their forex and do whatever they like with it. People can now approach banks and access forex at the official rate. Since that has been done, is forex not now stable? |

Lazy Abokis should return to farm joor! Demand for physical dollar has crashed because of the use of Naira cards for Int'l payments |

Kukutente23:You still don't get it? Bye bye to the middlemen (BDCs) coz customers now prefer to do their thing by themselves from the tap of their phones. As if that's not enough, CBN has now cut them off from get dollar cash, meaning CBN is indirectly pushing customers to opt for the direct dollar transfer on their phone instead of looking for cash upandan. What this means is that the cost if running BDCs will be too much and the profit will be extremely small since patronage will be low, and sourcing for dollar outside CBN will be higher |

Kukutente23:I think it is a floating exchange rate based on what 2 economist on NL said. Both defended the float. |

Kukutente23:Your ignorance is amazing. Question for you is what financial services that BDCs offer that financial institutions do not cureently offer that would cause your rate divergence in coming weeks as you postulated. |
| Re: FOREX Traders Struggle To Survive As CBN Cuts BDCs Off From Dollar Supply by grandstar(m): 5:10pm On Oct 27, 2025 |
Truth234:In a floating exchange rate, the BDC's may not be needed since one knows the real time exchange rate, and it seems one can buy forex from the banks now effortless. A floating exchange rate makes the model obsolete. I prefer the float. Some online stores now even give you the price in Naira. I also suspect, you can now sell fx at a competitive exchange rate now that the official exchange rate and the parallel rates have almost merged. |

| Re: FOREX Traders Struggle To Survive As CBN Cuts BDCs Off From Dollar Supply by Kukutente23: 5:14pm On Oct 27, 2025 |
Emeskhalifa:Yes until the demand rises sharply again It is the demand that drives BDC up That's what CBN countered with direct supply If their demand goes up again, there will be a divergence Or you think demand will remain this way? |

Anyone doing BDC business has to know that the new world order will not support sale of forex to BDCs. Even the walk-in physical exchanges will dry up. Everything will be tied to a digitial ID for use on digital platforms. |

Kukutente23:Except it's for money laundering, else I just told you they can make transfers. Infact, even the Naira debit cards can now handle international transactions. Is just like going to POS people now to source Cash of 10 million, what exactly do you need cash of 10 million for when you can easily transfer it from your bank to the next person's bank? Well I am not surprise you mentioned Yahoo boys and politicians |
Ask travellers visiting Nigeria and those exiting who need to change currencies Ask politicans, yahoo boys and such other money launderers Yahoo boys need their services? How again. So because of politicians, there'll be a rate divergence? So funny nothing your extra wonderful opinion. |

| Re: FOREX Traders Struggle To Survive As CBN Cuts BDCs Off From Dollar Supply by Kukutente23: 5:28pm On Oct 27, 2025 |
Emeskhalifa:You already answered the question Why do we have POS selling cash when we should have ATMs Demand has fallen due to the exacerbated rates. With time, demand will begin to mount. Emefiele's CBN restricted access to forex in order to restrict demand. It's obvious the alternative is to drive up rates with its attendant effect on inflation and exchange rate parity |
| Re: FOREX Traders Struggle To Survive As CBN Cuts BDCs Off From Dollar Supply by Lekby25: 5:28pm On Oct 27, 2025 |
Kukutente23:Allowing the use of naira cards to transact international business means you no longer need to carry cash dollars abroad when traveling, thereby reducing demand for cash dollars, meaning that nothing to force the price up, simple economics |

olyrayy:I don't, my need is always changing dollars to naira for personal use. But those apps also provide for buying dollars with Naira. I'm not sure about which rate is better, but I have seen that function on Lemfi and other apps. After comparing the rates on Lagos streets with some Apps, I concluded that it's not worth it to bring cash to change to dollars unless you're doing a very large sum. That also comes with risk. Online is safe and hassle-free.. |

YesDaddyTill203:Lol! When a Huasa / Fulani president comes in after Tinubu, he will re-create a biz space for them, and make that niche flourishing again. During Buhari regime, the major BDCs were cashing-out about #350 to #400 per dollar on every transaction due to d huge variance between official and black market rates. |

Yahoo boys sell their dollars with the hope of leaving no paper trails Like I told the other man, demand will rise as the rates stabilise. With that increase in demand, the alternative is either to increase rates or to restrict demand since we don't control supply It's simple economics As a matter of fact, dollar inflow has been very low this year |
