Kano is too populated and has a massive income disparity to feature on that list. The title of the stat is misleading. This is really a measure of Nigeria's middle class because an income of 200k per month is definitely in the top 20% (maybe 10% even) of Nigerians. Note that an income of 1 million naira per month is in the top 1% of Nigerians according to a BusinessDay April 2025 report.

Now, you can read that stat as follows:

86.4% of Lagos residents are among the top 20% (earn say 200k and above per month) wealthiest in Nigeria

58.1% of Edo residents are among the top 20% (earn say 200k and above per month) wealthiest in Nigeria

there is a reason the rich in Nigeria are called the "1% of the 1%". they are in the top 0.01%
That 20% figure would include the "HNI" as well who are within the top 1% of Individuals in Nigeria.

On the other hand, I'm aware that despite the income disparity, some of the Kano (and Kaduna) folks can be very rich in billions of Naira NOT billions of USD like the Forbes-listed Aliko Dangote and Abdulsamad Isiaku-Rabiu, BUT they don't like to make too much noise about it based off of their Islamic principles and perhaps for security reasons. Many rich farmers operating in the relatively safer areas of the North West for instance are very reserved but when you get to know their turn-over per hectare with their all-year round large-scale farming, you'll marvel.

These people should stop fooling themselves. Nigeria has no reliable data because if you need credible data you must invest in it. It's a big joke that Kano or Kaduna isn't on that list. Organising an ordinary census is even a big issue in Nigeria.
While I agree with you on the Accurate Provision of Data, Conducting Census ' Is Not Ordinary '
Or Simple as you want us to believed,
Or don't you know the Meaning of Data assemblages in this 21st Century,so why called it ' an Ordinary Census '?

It's possible, the Kano and Kaduna elites are based in FCT.

Story story. Where is the money they have comes from? They can as well go back and establish their business in their villages.

In fairness, Ekiti is a tiny civil servant state and what they prioritize is education and modest living.

Well, there are several criteria you can use. I would use bank account data. I'm fairly certain that's what they used.

You go explain very very tired. 5 out of the 6 SW States are on that list so na non indegenes get the money for those so called "Brown Roof" states? May Allah the god of the moslems produce more Kanu and Epa to consolidate the sit at home and the unending IPOB activities for the next decades and may he continue to bless you guys with politicians like that AguluPandora boy who will give them tactical support then you go know how far.

If Dangote was from South East he would have made 20 more billionaires through apprenticeship. But he prefers monopoly and his people prefer begging for crumbs to survive.

Not surprising.

Wealth is usually domiciled along the coast line of most seaboard countries.

Using the US as a grand example, New York, California and Texas have a lot more commerce and hence host a lot more wealthy individuals than hinterlands or land locked states.

Even within continents most land locked states are generally poorer the further away from the coast they are located. Countries like Mali and Burkina in west Africa and Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho in the south.

This is due to International trade that evolved out of the sea.
True that.

Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa States left the group
Those states mentioned have abundance of Nigerians living in abject poverty, it doesn't stop the proposed tax law coming onboard January to take away our resources and shared amongst politicians

Muslims in Kano and Kaduna have eaten up the Christians and this is the result you get.
I'm saying this as a Muslim.
especially when energy is directed wrongly. Rather than go to school and do business, the fulanis focus is to kill non fulanis, burn down their investments. In the long run no serious company wants to come to such environment. It's as if the entire Fulani tribe is cursed. Though they hide under north and islam but it's obvious fulani is a terrorist tribe

They are talking 20% middle income earners not billionaires. How many people earn above #200,000 monthly in the North? They are talking about the percentage of middle income business owners and security is a vital part of this. The best decision the SW politicians made was to shut down OPC in the early 2000's and igboho few years back. Such organization would have turned the region to something else by now. Remember what they did with Amotekun especially the late Aketi.
