Technically speaking, the SE has the lowest. grin
The figures from the SW and SS are lower than that of SE because all the rich men in the SE decided to move to other regions to help them lower their percentage of poor people. If our rich Igbo men didn't decide to help the SW for example, the rate would be almost 100% grin

Nigeria is an inconvenient contraption of unwilling inhabitants. But why they've not used their senses secede remains a mystery.

Nigeria needs a firm leader to enact a law to control her population. No man should marry more than one wife if he doesn't earn more than 1m per month, especially in the north.

The president will also ban and criminalise street begging among healthy people! When resources are scarce, nobody should be having children like rats.
Whichever President that tries will not live to recontest or campaign for re-election. Tinubu didn't do anything close to that, they already planned coup against him. The North strongly believe that their only asset and strength in this country is the population uneducated, unskilled and badly oriented residents. Their leaders can do anything to confront whoever tries to distrupt the system.
Can your Governor assemble more than a thousand jobless people and conduct wedding ceremony for all of them at once? Kwankwaso did that in Kano

Do you remember how they fought Jonathan when he built school for almajiri children?

Buhari was just an evidence that no single leader is going to take away your poverty.

At best, they just come and enrich themselves and their cronies..

Re: See Where The 20% Poorest Nigerians Live by Satazaa: 8:48pm On Oct 27, 2025
The north are Nigerian richest and poorest and that's an irony but not a coincidence, their elite encourages them to breed rapidly for population and resource leverage in Nigerian resource allocation, Buhari, Yar Adua, Babangida, El rufai, Abdulsalam, Abacha never had high numbers of children but I used to know a security guard in the northern state of Gombe that had three wives and nineteen children, even in Saudi Arabia they don't breed like that.

In fact, if you're not earning 500k monthly, don't have more than two kids. Let it be criminalized.
It is children without proper care that becomes criminals, kidnapers in the society.

South west %1.7!
To be honest. If the east had the coastline of the south west or the hydrocarbons of the south south, that 5% figure will be next to zero.

I noticed that even northern leaders are too afraid of their own people. Buhari didn't dare. They loved him, so he would rather do the wrong things to remain in their people's good books.

El-Rufai was the only northern leader with steel balls who tried to stop street begging in Kaduna, mobilized people to clamp it down.
Because the beggars have strong unions and association, they threatened to pull down his government. He had to do their bidding.

How can people be giving birth to children they don't have plans for? Nigeria cannot continue like this. Nigeria needs a leader who doesn't give a damn! With the conviction to do the right thing, he will get it done, even if it means doing it in his 2nd tenure. Nigeria must save the north from themselves.

It is just the fate of geography that has triggered all that. Proximity to the coast and easier access to international trade.

When you leave Lagos and start heading north either through Ogun, Oyo and onto Kwara or via Ondo to Kogi on the east so the wealth factor dissipates.

Even within Lagos the bulk of the wealth is concentrated towards the Island, the Peninsular and clusters around the ports and the immediate surroundings.

Even within Lagos wealth is not evenly distributed talk more across the entire southwest.

If Nigeria is to prosper, to achieve the so called trillion dollar economy it has to invest in opening up the country to access both land and human capital that abound throughout. It has to create wealth centres all over to tap into their comparative advantages.
