Dangote refinery is over 600000 BPD so the oil wells can't supply it's needs since they are expected to produce 40000 bpd
True but he has to start somewhere. Besides, I doubt one oil well can supply the quantity of crude he needs. I do like the fact that he's not sitting around waiting for the govt to provide crude cause govt go crash him business if he tries that

Ouch!!

This statement is damning to every Nigerian youth out there. It's quite painful that you can summarize the inadequacy of a whole generation in one short sentence.

As much as you captured it in a brilliant way, I would have also wanted you to find a solution to it. You left it too "dark".

Abeg. Na beg I dey beg.
It's right there in my post.

Solution: "Self-awareness."

The average person on the street level MUST choose his or her struggle with CLARITY and STOP being envious and entitled while blaming the rich [or depending on handouts from genuinely wealthy folks is the society who have worked hard (and smart) to get to where they are]. The Internet is the BIGGEST library in world and nearly every solution mankind needs is online.

Just like you stated, wanting to be a "capitalist" when starting a business, BUT guilt-tripping the government and wealthy people to apply socialism on the other hand just doesn't cut... Although we know full well that the China government uses a dual economic system comprising of socialism and capitalism (and since 1980 when about 20% of China's overall population was very poor and still rose bicycles around [just like the India of 1980 with roughly the same percentage of poor people] and they are now doing quite well with the two economic systems or models because of the iron-grip the communist leadership of China has on the over 1.2 billion people.

Dangote is not producing crude oil yet. His refinery is turning crude oil into products.

I wonder why FG can't make refinery work if one man can. Even if na to privatize am and make the refinery plc.... when Atiku said it, people went for his head, but here we are today, its evident only private sector can run things in this country.

But Dangote too get sense sha. That monopoly thing ehn, its coming because by the time other players enter the market, he would have dominated the market and left them with probably less that 10percent of the market share. They really came late to the party cos it takes a very long while to build a refinery.
Please stop talking of Atiku selling refineries. Ge is a selfish human being selling national assets for peanuts to his friends who will destroy the assets. What have gained from previous assets sold by Atiku? If they are sold properly, yes, we may gain from the resuscitation of the refineries by new private entrepreneurs.

Absolutely well said! You're indeed a well-informed professional consultant who has a grasp of many management books and perspectives which deal with real world situations NOT the usual banal motivational speaking stuff that relies excessively on "hope." "Hope" on its own is baseless WITHOUT the sustainable ACTIONS to produce robust manifestations or RESULTS in our world of vibrational energy.

I appreciate a significant part of your insights here. I wish you a great day (cum work week ahead).

Overcoming challenges. Nice one Dangote. The man who refuses to bow to obstacles. He is debottlenecking every bottleneck

Give it to this man. He keeps turning problems into opportunities. While others are lamenting, seeing problems everywhere. Not knowing that the other side of a problem is opportunities. Same coin with two sides. Even if you dont like him for whatever lazy reasons your dad told you. But try respect his principles, results, doggedness, and consistency. What we need as people is to appreciate and learn from this man who is now an INSTITUTION
You said it all bro. Most times, we allow our challenges derail our focus, rather than pause and think deeply to decipher where a likely opportunity might be hiding in our challenges.

I'm so much in love with this man. Lock him up in a room, he suffers and the next time you do it, you either find him holding a spare key or he'd already made an escape through a secretly dug window space.

We should all try to emulate this man even in our daily lives because, take it or leave it, he's a role model.

The other day, pengassan instructed all their affiliate members in the upstream sector, even in multinationals to down tools and block movement of crude to dangote refinery, but see what he has done!

Fine, 40,000 bpd can not serve him but there's always a starting with rooms for improvement.

Is Dangote not over stretching himself?.

He is planning to scale his refinery up to 1.4 million BPD.

His 40,000 barrels crude oil production will not go anywhere. Let other people supply you crude.

Punch writer/s seem deficient with their news research. Dangote has already commenced refining and exporting product. But they correctly stated it still has issues with the NNPCL adequately supplying them with 9ja crude.

For decades we never had a functioning refinery and no one dared to venture into it. Someone took high risk and invested billions of dollars. People were even doubting its success while construction was going on. Now that it has become a reality, you hear monopoly abi monogamy.

There are still deficits today. So others can invest bigger than Dangote and stop shouting monopoly from their beds while a hardworking man continues working. Dangote started cement business when we were all importing cement. He saw the opportunity of building something to stop cement importation. Today people say monopoly.

Is there any business man or woman anywhere in the world that doesn't want to dominate his/her line of business? None. Even Facebook keeps buying over smaller competitors. Same applies to Google and other big companies.

There is a reason why someone who started with one shop in Alaba market now has more than 5 shops in the same line sef and more in other areas. The goal is expansion and domination. This is the businessman mindset and goal. To expand and dominate. In simple terms, that is growth. Even churches open branches where other denominations already exist. Do crusades and evangelism, etc. It is in human nature to grow and dominate.

Is there any father who will tell his child to stop studying hard so the other students can enjoy 1st positions because he has been taking first since primary 1? Nobody does that
Monopoly might be a welcomed idea because someone ventured into a business many has suffered of for many years and in that moment, it all seem okay. However, when we out of that euphoria and other players begin to complement, you would understand why it wasn't a good idea in the first place. It is just like people clamoring for a military takeover after years of suffering from civilian government but those of us that experienced a bit of military know better than to wish for it. We rather slug it out till we get it right as democracy.

Look, I appreciate Dangote's contributions and the man deserve its flowers but let's not entertain what will end up biting us. Whether he contributed zillions or more sef, its always better to free and have nothing that to have everything and yet in bandage.

That cement you talking, how much is it today...

I love dangote by the way and he can go for his goal. It is our responsibility as citizens to balance things out while we still can.

Your opinion though. But you are mixing everything up and you are using unrelated analogy. Seems you want to transfer the responsibility of our government to an entrepreneur or business person. Dangote is not stopping you and me from starting up ours today. So why all the noise? Because you are afraid of monopoly in the future, so we should not allow anyone to start the business or invest big? Like saying cars shouldn't be produced because there will be future risk of accidents.

Maybe I still dont understand you. So you mean Dangote refinery should be shutdown since there is currently no other competitor or what?

It is you that is getting the analogy wrong. Again, I reiterate the fact that Dangote is okay to pursue his goals. If his goal is a monopoly system, its fine. No one is putting government's responsibility on his shoulders. He is there to make profit and dominate. However, as consumers, our job is not also to give him that leverage because we are at the receiving end of the value chain whether in terms of pricing and availability or labour conditions.

We want him to prosper but we also need to keep him reasonable so we can also thrive.

Well since you've found a profiting Job, you can continue. You didn't find the job when you had no functioning refinery. Now you want to fight the only one that is available and functioning. The only way you can fight it reasonably is by encouraging him and other investors to build other refineries for healthy competition. Or better still set up your own. My point is Dangote is not holding you and me from setting up similar or better refinery.

So while we await others to join, let's not call for her downfall all because we are afraid of monopoly
