So, turns out my battery also had an issue with the terminal. The cable going out from the BMS to the negative terminal had shorted and was burnt, causing massive voltage fluctuations which was likely stopping charging.

Battery was built by isangjohnson, so he asked me to ship it out of state to him for fixes. Sent it to him on Thursday morning, got my battery back on Friday evening all fixed. Top guy. I also flashed the V6.66 firmware and hard resettled the inverter after that. It's been smooth sailing since then.
o

So u further upgraded your firmware twice from 6.63 to 6.64 then to 6.66, so how do I go about the upgrading... abeg guide me to the link where I can download the updated application for the upgrades

Yep.

SRNE customer service actually replied me after about 48 hours but at that point I had already shipped the battery out for fixes. There's also a company that handles their aftersales service in Nigeria, and the person who attended to me was quite helpful.

https://quickshare.samsungcloud.com/rUKC7UkebZCA

Link to the software and firmware files. Expires in two days. Install the ipower software first, open it, then install the USB drivers. You need a printer cable for communication. There's a help section there that provides all the info you need for flashing.

You are absolutely right. I also have about:
3 AC's including 1 1.5hp
0.75hp pump
3 55 inches TV
2 freezers
A microwave oven
Air Fryer
Washing machine
Water heater
Electric Jug e.t.c

I use 24v comfortably with a 4.2kva inverter and 8.2kwh lithium battery. I've never had any issues.

And yes with load management because all appliances are not on at same time.
Spot on.

People usually overestimate how much power they need.

With a 4kw array, they'd be making north of 360kwh of energy per month. By Band A rates, that's over 85k worth of energy monthly. Unless this guy's light bill was 100k+ a month, that setup should meet his needs.

Thank you. I will work with this and do the 48v as advised. I'm new to this solar work and want to get it right from onset
Any solar install just plan for next 5-7 years and prepare to sell off and upgrade. The technology is moving fast. Three years ago 300 and 350Wpanels were the standard. Now you get 600-700W half-cut panels that are much cheaper per W. Panels are meant to last 25 years. A lot of people that bought those 300, 350W panels are selling them off. Same goes with inverters which are becoming cheaper and cheaper. As for batteries with a lot of money being pumped into the sector, advances are coming quickly. Lithium Ion gave way to LIFEPO4 which is giving way to Sodium Ion batteries. CATL and BYD are already planning to phase out LIFEPO4 and expect Sodium Ion batteries from next year to cost around $19/KWh meaning that a 10KWh battery will cost around $250 (plus shipping) or N375K instead of $1,100 or around N1.65M.

https://cleantechnica.com/2025/10/22/the-sodium-ion-battery-revolution-has-started/

With this in mind conserve your money in all those areas to what can serve your essential loads.

I've reconfigured to parallel, hopefully the issue will stop

I'll update the group
Update on this

It turns out that despite connecting in parallel, the temperature was still going up though not as fast as when it was in series. Probably due to the quality of the controller

It still went up as much as 65°c, this is mostly when panels are generating 650watts and above, at some point, I got 800watts.

What I did that helped the issue was to limit the float and absorption to 13.8v, this reduces the power I'm generating at peak to less than 650watts but solved the overheating issue and battery still gets full on time

I don't want to disconnect one panel because of cloudy days

I'll leave it like this pending upgrade

Thanks everyone

You are actually overwhelming the controller. 60A @12v is 720w, considering the ambient temperature during those generation, your controller is working as it should, nothing is wrong with oversizing though some controllers handle heat better

A very good controller should be able to take it max and clip the excess without issues since the connection is within it voltage limit

Where will the excess go? It actually converts it to heat. That is what you are experiencing. Manufacturer outrightly specified the input parameters, think am na. Your controller is good. The recommended maximum specified overpaneling anywhere is 30%, you are doing 64% overpaneling. Nor be controller fault be that na.

Noted but it's actually 47% over panelling not 64%, array is two pieces of 530watts

(1) 5kwh lithium battery 1m

5pieces of 600w Jinko panel 100k ×10=500k

5kva 24v non hybrid inverter =480k

100ah MPPT Change controller=210k

6mm cable wire 3800 × 25m = 95k

AC breaker= 10k

DC breaker=12k

Breaker box = 8k

Panel rack =24k

Above is the quote I got. He is using felicity. I don’t intend to use light to charge it as I want to slowly leave grid as cost of band A is becoming unbearable. There is 5 TVs in the house one 42 LCD, and the rest are 42 led, and 65 led in the sitting room. I have inverter ACs and freezer but I don’t intend to use it with the package yet unless maybe during the day or when I have upgraded. I still want to be using a bit of grid to mix up in the interim until full up is done with time. Yes next year is close but not early next year as it will later end. Just as you stated, fees and the likes definitely waiting as well. So i just want to get this to help reduce cost of grid, while I plan to phase it off completely.

Thanks for your input.

I really would appreciate it, if potential customers / clients can annonymously contact different people from this group, and get quotations from them. When asked how they got the contact, just say you found it on google and if they say if it's nairaland, say NO.

Even international brands have referral codes/programs that give discounts.
Constantly attacking and referring to anyone with a differing opinion as a marketer wouldn’t elevate you.

Thanks for the mention sir.
Some still stick with the past when there are new technology around.
24V 5kva with Charge controller is a wrong move in today's decision.
Lithium Batteries are at all time low now

by 16.8v, you mean input voltage of 16.8v as against the usual 12v or 24v or 36v or 48v battery systems ?
yes. Between 14.8v(nominal) and 16.8v(maximum) of 4S li ion system.

I ave seen one online but it is rated 50w-100w. Too small.

Nothing too bad there na apart from inverter and cc, did you observe there is no workmanship there

Hello bosses in the house, I need your help.

I currently have a setup that has the specs below (being using it for 3 years):

- SRNE 3.3kva hybrid inverter

- 5kw DIY battery pack build 228ahx8 (one battery in the pack has a lower performance from the rest, its quick to charge to 3.65 when others will still be at 3.38 and also quick to discharge to 2.5 when others are still at 3.2, thereby tripping the bms).

Also, if I'm charging, and my panels is supplying too much amps (45amps, around 1.2kw), that unfortunate battery quickly jumps to 3.65 (sot is still at 70%), so I had to set my charging amps so low, at the expense of my battery not fully charged by the end of the day. Although I didn't top balance the batteries when I coupled them back then.

- 5x550w Canadian solar panel. This is also not giving its optimum performance, highest 1.5kw at peak sunlight and dropped to 300-500w when its around 4pm. The issue for this i think is that 2 panels was installed in one part of the roof, 3 was installed on another part, which I realized later that this kind of setup will affect yield. All the panels should have been installed at the same side of the roof.

My budget to upgrade my system to 48v is 1m

I'm thinking may be 6kw hybrid inverter (my 3.3kva srne has never had any hiccups), 10kw battery pack. I'm hoping there is a way I could fix the one battery issue and just buy more 5kw to the pack to convert it to 48v, Or buy a new pack while put the current one for sale.

After a brief research, the prices I'm seeing for srne 6kw 48v is hot! I don't know if growatts performance can rival srne as its prices on faouni are making sense.

Please kindly advise me appropriately. Thank you

Why exactly are you upgrading to 48v in your case?Surely you'd be better off replacing that cell, adding a few more panels and mounting them properly, and if you want just buy a 5kwh battery from our builders on this thread and parallel with your current battery.

That way you end up with a 10kwh battery and possibly up to 4kw PVs that actually delivers 3kw+ constantly. Biggest issue will likely be finding a replacement cell in that 228aH range.

On SRNE vs Growatt, I think they're generally considered a similar tier of product. Though Growatt is usually cheaper.

Please lithium battery has good quality, and last for years between Pylontech, Lvtopsun, and Felicity.

I am thinking of getting a 10kwh or 15kwh battery to replace my 4 tubular battery, and I don't know which brand to go for. I want something that will give me peace of mind and value for money.

My load is two freezer during day and from 10pm to 6am, and light during the night

LVTOPSUN probably the best of those, but there's also Deriy which is slightly cheaper I believe. 1.7m for 14kwh.
