Migraine: How Can One Handle It? by GravityDefier(op): 2:15pm On Oct 28, 2025
Happy new day wonderful people of NL.
A close friend of mine has been having severe migraine that seems to be increasing with each passing year. This is gradually putting her in a state of depression as the medication she has been taking (Lexotan) is not working effectively on her again. She's scared of tramadol addiction so she had to disregard it upon the Doctor's prescription.

This has given me much concern on how to help but just don't know how to. I confirmed it has no cure. The pain transfers to her ears, eyes and now to her tooth which made her to remove the tooth of recent (Doctor's suggestion).

She goes through this experience at least 2-3 times every week which makes her to take the drugs in excess as it's now almost non-effective.

Those who have experience + Doctors in the house, is there any means (herbal or any surgery) that can help?

Lexotan is not meant for Migraine.
Who's prescribing that for her?

What she needs is a medication like Sumatriptan in combination with any of panadol, Ibuprofen, or Naproxen

There are also medications for prevention

Re: Migraine: How Can One Handle It? by Azazyel: 8:56pm On Nov 14, 2025
Cafergot would do a better job most importantly, that migraine is a symptom of an underlying issue in the body. Check your blood pressure, pcv or check if you have blood clots. Stop using NSAIDs

Re: Migraine: How Can One Handle It? by Amwitty(f): 8:57pm On Nov 14, 2025
She should go for MRI or CT scan and also she should check her eyes maybe it is an underline issue that is causing the headache. I was once in her shoes and apparently it was my eyes the moment I started using glasses it reduced.
Re: Migraine: How Can One Handle It? by Uzobejeme: 8:59pm On Nov 14, 2025
Stay in a quiet dark room. Turn off the light, drop your phone out your legs in a bowl of cold water and close your eyes. You can also std under the shower if possible before lying down .
Always works for me but I end up throwing up ech time I have a migraine before I feel relief.b
If it is recurrent, go to a hospital

when I was experiencing this a doctor told me to go and have a good orgasm and my headache will be cured due to secretions of some sex hormones in the body. I tried that and it worked like magic.

Eat food on time , take enough water and take enough rest.

And if the headache still persist, it's a warning that something is wrong with you inside that needs an urgent attention

Very correct. Outdated or wrong glasses can give you headaches measured in Richter's scale.

The person still needs to see a physician.

Use low dose amitriptyline (12.5mg at night ) and take sumatriptan 50mg at start of the headache but do not exceed 100mg per day of the sumatriptan. Then try avoiding triggers (there are triggers ).
Re: Migraine: How Can One Handle It? by Oladikpo1975: 9:15pm On Nov 14, 2025
If the trigger is anxiety or loss of sleep then lexotan can be used to remove the underlying cause.

Re: Migraine: How Can One Handle It? by chiefsaif: 9:20pm On Nov 14, 2025
First thing to understand about migraine is that it has triggers. You need to help her find out what sets it off
- it can be bright light, stress, lack of sleep, hunger, certain smells, or even loud noise. Once she knows her trigger, she is already halfway to reducing how often the headaches come.
She should also try to see a neurologist for proper evaluation.
In the meantime, she can use Cafergot as directed in the leaflet until she gets medical review.

Tell your friend to get one stick of colos smoke mix with sk and puff small. It works alot. Don't forget to mix the colos with sk to reduce the effect. One or two puff is enough to sleep for 5-7hrs
It's works for migraine alot

If you normally skip meals stop it. Skipping of meals causes migraine headaches.

I'm a victim and a survivor. 4 months ago i almost made a post about this topic before I changed my mind thinking it won't be helpful. I'm happy u already know it has no cure, even the tramadol u are mentioning won't even have any effect on it. Whenever it occurs, there's nothing u will take that will be effective, that's just it. Using myself as reference, she's currently at the peak of this killing severe headache, just one side of the head. At this point it can happen 2 times in a day, 3 to 6 times a week, as the case maybe, after battling this era, if she's strong and wins the battle, it will fade of gradually by occuring once in say 2 months, also 4 months, gradually 6 months and before u know it she will only experience it once in a year and once in maybe 2 years and so on till it fades away. But this peak era is the worst and dangerous. During my peak period I was in 100 level, second semester, had to leave school for home because only family can atleast be helpful by then, I only returned to school to write exams after missing all C.As and got just one carry over, alhamdulilah I still finish without spilling and second class upper . Please tell her, whenever she lost her sight it means she has just around 10 minutes to experience it, that's the notice, she will start seeing blurred vision and everything double, that's the sign before it triggers, so whenever she saw it coming she should quickly find her way to the house because she can only manage the situation and not stop it which most be done by taking the steps Below. Head home, ensure her room is dark, no Ray's of light at all, like completely dark as if it was night, no noise, like anyone opening doors or sound of ceiling fan or u as a friend staying with her and saying sorry sorry sorry out of pity, u are only making it worst. Light and sound of any degree at all triggers the migraine more, so she needs to avoid it, that's why I said going home is better because only family knows her problem, the public won't know or may end up rushing her to hospital complicating her life thinking they are helping. My mum will just sit down in the dark with me and watch me cry until I sleep off, that's when she will leave quietly, sleep won't be deep but it's the solution since I won't know what's happening one when I wake up the pains will all be concentrated at one spot of the head which I can use to walk gradually like going to toilet or shake my body while on bed, it will gradually now goes off again and she will be ok until next one comes up again. Take note,u don't want sounds, but the pain is severe that I will cry and that brings sounds which means vibration, I don't have a choice, keep crying in pains and praying for sleep to come. Tell me how possible do u sleep while in painshuh Only by God's grace. Let nobody stay in the room telling her sorry because every sound vibrates her head more, if u love her, ensure no noise in the compound at all and also thick curtains at the window, make the room dark, that's how to manage it until she will overcame it in future. Mine was between say 2004 to 2020 when it stop totally. I'm currently 35yrs of age, its been several years ago since it happened last. All local herbalist and foreign drugs before I saw an article how to go about it from a white man, that's when I believed no cure too, had to start managing it. Even though I'm at a wedding ground, football pitch, lecture, anywhere at all, once I lost vision , I will rush home, everything ends straight up because u don't want to scare ur friends or public who might also kill u thinking they are helping u by doing all first aid and making noise and vibrating all ur body in the process . May Almighty Allah comfort her, she will survive it, many has been killed , she won't be among 🙏🙏
