The integration and forgiveness of repentant terrorists was dead on arrival even before they mull about it, no serious government would try that rubbish. The number rule of the sea is you don't negotiate with sea pirates but Nigeria government think they are an exception to that rule. I'm less surprised.

Katsina and Zamfara should brace up too, I can see that their governments have been treating the bandits ravaging them with kid gloves.

Am not very fond of the repeantant terrorism thing , but it's not odd ( the Selous Scouts did the same thing in Zimbabwe, integrating former freedom fighters into their ranks , and yes it worked very well..the Scouts did better than many other units in the old Rhodesia, including the all white RLI)..but at the same time, most of the information boko gets could be from spies on the ground.


Also, one thing the NA doesn't get is that this is unconventional warfare, where the rules are different. It's almost like many soldiers have the mindset that any loss to boko is sabotage, when the game boko plays is to attack a small unit enmasse, steal and kill, and that scares everyone

Boko Haram fights for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal laws.
Shortly before Boko Haram emerged, 12 far northern Nigeria states adopted unconstitutional sharia criminal laws.
So between Boko haram fighters and many Muslims in the Sharia states, the difference is like the difference between six and half a dozen.
Many ignorant southern Nigerians are expecting the day Boko Haram fight will stop.
It shall stop the day Boko Haram and the sharia states win all the south and middle belt regions and impose sharia criminal justice system upon Nigeria.
