Having been granted the unusual privilege of Green Card ownership without physically residing on American soil for the majority of each year as is required of other Green Card holders, Wole Soyinka should never have drawn attention to the existence of that precious travel liberator called the Green Card, so as not to spite those within the pre-Trump US administration who "bent the rules" to make possible the issuance of that Green Car to Soyinka.

More recently, Wole Soyinka showed poor judgement and recklessness by PUBLICLY criticizing America's elected political leadership, particularly since Mr. Soyinka only spends time in the USA as a visitor. Regardless of what the fine print of the law says, the democratic right to free speech that Americans enjoy can NOT be extrapolated to include a tolerance for the airing of critical opinions about the US president by foreign visitors to America.

Wole Soyinka's hard-earned reputation for political involvement in Nigeria will be recalled by historians as a key contribution that expedited Nigeria's evolution towards electoral democracy, but Soyinka must refrain making judgmental statements about heads of states presiding over any countries that he visits or proposes to visit. Visa issuance is a privilege and not a right of the applicant, therefore diplomatic decorum MUST be the watch word for all visa applicants to ANY country on this planet.

Nah... He is a global citizen and icon and the mere possibility of being barred from the states is too little a thing to shut down his free expression and free conscience.

Especially for a man known for conviction.

While Wole Soyinka's characterization of Donald Trump as being a "white version" of Ugandan tyrant "Big Daddy" Idi Amin is both humorous and accurate in that Trump does aspire to become a tyrant of the Idi Amin mold, Wole Soyinka should have kept his observation private and refrained from voicing his view to the hearing of any reporters, so as to protect his freedom to visit America for business or pleasure.

Once Trump's reign of terror has run its course and normalcy has been restored to the USA in the wake of the Trump years, Wole Soyinka will be free to once again visit America as he has for decades in the past. That visitation right would never have been interrupted at all if Soyinka had not openly declared his intention to revoke his own Green Card back in 2017, as a demonstration of his dismay at a Trump electoral win.

What is monopoly there? Even if , they stole some of our oil, they didn't do it in isolation and the proceeds, we have been getting from it over the years, what impact has it made on the life of many of the people.
