You don't know this crafty man like I do , if you think he did this protect Dangote than you are a🤡.

We know his cronies are the ones with the high stakes in the import business...Give it some days let's watch , if this gives Dangote any edge then I will come here and apologize..
Like....you thinking petrol price can go up by 15% is very ridiculous. After a week I will personally remind you to apologize.

will this not increase the price on imported fuel, because i dont think Dangote is able to meet the daily consumption on fuel.
Dangote is enough to meet our consumption, the thing is, you can get low quality fuel outside cheaper rate so importers tend to go for that.

Your budget this year was based on the plan that oil prices will be 75 dollars per barrel

Since January ending, oil has been averaging 68 dollars per barrel

At the end, it's either loans or taxes or things don't get paid

And yes, apc took over promising diversification. They failed.
Why did you remove the overlooting and corruption in APC?
No matter the amount of tax they steal from the masses, they will still loot it and go for another round of borrowing. No be tinubu and his hench men again?

This man is just not interested in making life better for the people. He seeks ways to further tighten the noose around the necks of Nigerians.
Dangote will be happy with this news.

I trust middle men and retailers to sell at imported rate despite buying from Dangote. This is to discourage marketers from importing as allowed in the petroleum industry act📌💯🤷🏿
that's the thing. Retailers will sell dangote fuel at Importers rate.

Greed in Nigeria is not only done by Government.

Dangote is the ultimate winner

Not a bad idea

the world is not FREE grin

I don't want people sitting around just making babies whilst the farms and arable lands are left wasting away...

60% of the people in Lagos and Abuja should be sent back home to their villages to farm or kpai. They are in lagos just reselling imported junk. Producing nothing and attacking government.

Professional critics are ignorant and don't follow the news!

If you have to criticise the government please equip yourself with knowledge and up to date information.

Otherwise you are adding to our problems in this country. Some of you don't even understand that the government has a severe shortage of revenue. Yet you want all roads fixed, you want 24/7 electricity, you want free food from the markets, you want free schools and universities. you are all to be ignored!!!

I wonder when you folks will learn? When Buhari's government banned the importation of rice to favour local production, did it yield any positive result? Nah! The price of rice skyrocketed and the quality reduced.

I wonder why Nigerians suffer from selective amnesia. huh huh
This is another aspect of governance that the public often ignores. The role of government in economic development.

The lazy model we have often practiced is by fencing a plot (banning) and then throwing money around (scattering seed) with the presumption of a harvest down the line.

That is what they did. They closed the borders and then through the CBN threw money at people particularly politically exposed people thinking they will go to farm and create the volumes and value to make for import substitution.

Same thing with poverty. They throw money at it.
Same with security they throw money at it. Everything is about allocating whereas they have not cleared the bush, tilled the ground and prepared the farm to accept the seed.

What are the policies in place to get additional refining capacity. What are the timelines, what are the inputs by government because it is the responsibility of government to lay the foundations for industry. They should have active stakes in all concerns.

If the 15% levy is going to raise x naira and x naira is going as government equity to fastrack the BUA refinery, and other refineries in their industrialization masterplan, I won't have any issues with it.

It will be easy to account for the funds, it will be a recoverable investment and the long term gains in fuel price reductions will be in sight.

But if such funds are going to be thrown into the wicker basket of the so called government budget to fund their lifestyles and feed their pet white elephants then it is useless to the people.of this country.

Accountability, prudence and wisdom will forever be the key to economic development. Nothing else works.

Reference:
It is not a people centric budget.
Stop saying 'your' budget.
It is filled with costs 'they' approve for themselves through a legislature that works for 'them'.

That is what we say.
The nature of this democracy is not people centric.
The people end their participation at the polls and everything after that is resisted and termed anti government at the least and seditious a lot of times.

You cannot expect people not to complain about government's income and expenditure when they have little of no input and little to no benefit.

Ad a classic example.
Yesterday we saw pictures of a dreadful highway in the Edo/Delta axis.

Now if the government is sensitive to acknowledge this and tie them to new taxes or tariff and is seen to move on these issues then people will not complain.

But to raise taxes just to throw it into some opaque budget no one is monitoring for expenditure the public doesn't control will be resisted.

To whom much is given much is expected and this government should realize that the more it strains the people the more they will ask questions.

I don't know how we see government in this part of the world. They are not gods that are beyond question. Gods are not elected from amongst men. They are merely first amongst equals and they should answer to the people who send them there to represent them.

In saner societies issues of taxation are bitterly debated by government and the people's representatives on the other hand.

Government doesn't just collect money from the people without serious explanations as to how and why.
It's still the budget. Lord help us, it still is.

President Tinubu is surely taking Nigerians for granted. His only saving grace will be a low voter turnout in 2027.
it is our duty to sensitise the people and make them know the grave implications, all hands must be on deck to rescue the nation, people involved with drugs are usually very heartless and bad people, that's is why all over the world they are given the death sentence, you can't have people with such mindset in power and have peace it is highly impossible
They make money at the expense of people's lives
