It’s long overdue. I would suggest 5000 and 10000 for a start. After a years or 2 we can add 20000.

More of 5k then fewer 10k. and make 20k very scares to see.

When obj introduce 1000 the value today would be like 30-40k. People shouted then. Because it almost amounts to 10$ at the time. Considering dollars also loses it devalued too.


If you give anyone 1k then they will look it in the sun or through touch light. But not anymore today.

The only alternative is to redenominate the naira or bring higer denomination.

Those calling for higher naira denominations have evil intentions. Do you know how this will drive inflation? It is very illogical to have higher notes when the purchasing power of the naira is low. Why do developed nations like US, Britain, and France, etc don't have crazily higher notes? Yet we thrive to evolve like them. Those who want higher naira notes should simply create their own currency and introduce one million denomination if they like.

Buhari printing N22trln of ways and means did 100 times more damage than having N10,000 note will ever do.

Operating a N20trln deficit does more damage to inflation than the value of your denomination will ever do.

The critical thing CBN needs to do is to ensure that if they print 1 million notes of N10,000 bills, which is N10bln in value, they have to remove equivalent value in lower denominations from the market so that money supply remaiins the same.

Manyfacturers do not increase prices because of the level of denomination.

If Milo is N100, it remains N100.

That gist of the denomination will increase inflation is actually the beer parlour gist
