Factors such as carrier progression, passion for the job, environment, personal conviction, and goals play more vital roles. For instance, if you are employed as SM in NDIC and at the same time PM at, let's say, SEC, you may likely choose SEC over NDIC due to the GL difference, regardless of the mouth-watering pay package NDIC is known for. A friend left PenCom for an Agency that pays much less but with 2 GL (6 years) ahead of his previous position. Another turned down a better NPA offer because he can't cope with the "madness" in Lagos. Someone was looking for who to take the NCDMB slot in his family but "none was willing to go and live in Bayelsa". A lady quit her CBN job and open a school, she paid for Hajj (again) on the ground that her previous Hajj was paid with the CBN money... She wasn't sure if it was accepted or not, but now she paid with Halal (pure) money, (as she put it). I know someone who left the office of the Accountant General of the Federation when his juniors (in the same office) were busy buying mansions at Jabi, Guzape, and Life Camp... A friend left NDIC for FIRS due to GL differences, another is heading for NERC. There're a plethora of reasons why people decline or quit a seemingly good job. Everyone in this life has a story to tell but if what we see is all we can see, then we've seen nothing. I wish everyone here success.

We’re all just expressing views from different angles. Some people focus more on financial stability, while others place peace of mind and health above all. Both perspectives are valid . what matters is finding the balance that fits one’s personal reality.

I have an OND and HND in Accounting, but someone once advised me not to stop at HND. So I went on to earn a B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance, and by God’s grace, I also completed an MBA in the same field.
Currently, I’m pursuing my ICAN certification, and I recently got a job that pays ₦450,000 per month. However, the workload is extremely demanding, it’s literally Monday to Monday, and even when I work tirelessly, the tasks just keep piling up.
I’m an accounting professional with strong skills in Excel, Power BI, and various accounting software, but lately, the job has started taking a toll on my health. Constant laptop use has affected my eyesight, caused back pain and poor posture, and I often feel mentally and physically exhausted. I can’t even prepare to read for my ICAN exams or study on weekends because of the constant body aches.
Now I’m at a crossroads, should I quit this job and look for a lower-paying but less stressful one, or should I hang on until I secure a good federal government job or top private firm?
For context, I leave home by 6:00 AM and don’t get back until around 9:30 PM daily, and remote work isn’t an option.
Please, I’d really appreciate your honest advice.

What are you even saying, someone has, ND, HND BSc and MBA, you saying he should go and do PGD again, for what nan, he only needs his ND to get a BSc within 3years which he already got by the way, so I don't understand why you want to force him to do PGD, we have lots of persons who have HND but currently did BSc without doing PGD and they will even get to PERM Sec if they have years in service, so next time if you don't understand something ask questions, and stop misleading people. Also I heard last week one of the Northern governors was given slots of FIRS, this is true, as I said earlier regarding FIRS, it's becoming tougher everyday, stop asking for updates just push if you have the right connections, any agency that just recently finished or conducted replacements/recruitment the APL sharing continues even after, it doesn't always stops there, and I mean 'any' agency, those telling you it isn't possible don't have the right connections, there's no job a connection can't get you it all depends on what type of connection.
