Can Dangote supply every demand? The ripple effect is that many filling station will close down or forced to source from Dangote . The instance the importers divest their resources , dangote will increase to that price .
Now Am I against this tariff ? No. But I believe this should be coming when we have two or more fully functional local refineries . So that competition will reign supreme
Dangote can and has sanction the expansion of his refinery....

Again... The govt refinery will be privatize

Petrol costs at least 700 naira to refine from crude

Selling it at 300 naira means losses for the dangote refinery
The refinery is here. The crude is here.

Should it still be costly for Nigerians?

OPEC country for that matter

Would you sell crude at a very low cost to.dangote refinery?

Probably not. Costs a lot of money to drill for and bring out oil. Then you got tonpay the workers very very well, plus maintenance costs

Plus , since at least 2005, Nigeria don't have the cash to pay subsides on crude or it's refined products. Even earlier than that.

Being an OPEC country doesn't mean you run operations at a loss because fuel got to be cheap.

Besides, oil revenue can't even pay all our bills as a country, assuming we eliminated corruption decades ago.

Oga this is a target against the fuel importers. Group of people sabotaging the government efforts. A win for Nigeria and Dangote
Who do you think are going to pay those taxes? You think that the importers are the ones paying for it? No! It's the populace that would bare the weight of these taxes. Importer will pass this difference to the retailer, the retailer passes it to the final consumers who are me and you. Did you people not study commerce in school?

Well 2026 is going to reformat all these political sychophancies. Una eyes go clear well well by then.

It's actually a good thing, local content 💯. It's to discourage import but middle men go spoil am.😥
local content can not meet up with local demands. You impose these measures when your local production is enough to satisfy the local demands but are facing competition with foreign products.
