Fubara Expands Rivers’ Blue Economy Potentials, Constructs 13.55km Coastal Road by KillerOfCrackas(op): 8:14pm On Oct 30, 2025
The construction of the 13.52km Ngo-Atlantic-Oyorokoto coastal road in Rivers State, which is currently ongoing, has been described as a bold and visionary effort by the state government to open up the coastal region for economic growth and harness the full potential of the state’s blue economy.

Siminalayi Fubara, Rivers State governor, made this known on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, during a visit to the project site in Andoni Local Government Area.

The road leads to a newly identified beachfront facing the Atlantic Ocean, separate from the popular Oyorokoto beach.

Fubara explained that while the original plan was to construct a road leading to Oyorokoto Town and its popular beach, his administration decided to expand the project to create an entirely new route that would open access to another pristine beachfront.

A release by Nelson Chukwudi, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, pointed out that the road, which cuts through challenging coastal terrain, is being constructed by Monier Construction Company (MCC).

The governor, during the visit, said, “is a virgin road, 13.52 kilometres of a new pathway to the blue economy.
“Initially, we were constructing a road to Oyorokoto Beach, one of the finest tourist centres in this area. But as we progressed, we discovered another beach directly facing the Atlantic Ocean. It became clear that we shouldn’t limit development to just one site. We want to harness this new beach front as part of our broader plan to develop the blue economy.”

Fubara stressed that once completed, the project will not only improve access to coastal communities but also stimulate tourism and economic activities, boosting revenue for Rivers State.
Describing the area’s difficult terrain as challenging, he commended the contractor for its dedication and expressed confidence that the road would be completed and commissioned by March next year.

“You can see for yourself, it’s a brand-new road in a very difficult terrain, just like the one we saw yesterday. But I strongly believe we will overcome it. From what we’ve seen today, the contractor, MCC, is doing their best, and by next year, hopefully by March, we’ll have the cause to commission this project and give God all the glory,” he said.

Fubara also visited Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area to assess the progress of work on the Epellema axis of the ongoing 5.2km Kalaibiama-Epellema road project featuring a 450-meter bridge.

Every Governor is now constructing road as their major project which is commendable but it's getting boring because we tend to ignore other basic and social amenities.

We are in Rivers state and we are seeing the writing.
None of Fubara loyalists is loyal to Wike, none of his media aides is loyal to Wike, infact they still go ahead and insult Wike.

The house of assembly told him to bring his commissioners lists, yet he ignored them.

Fubara is not just constructing roads.

The blue economy is not just road but opening the potentials the sea offers.
The trans kalabari road connect all Kalabari satellite community to the state capital to open up development.

The meeting with NDE was for Job creation, not road.
The Igwuruta dump site was not about road but neatness of the state

Abeg shift, the same you complain of bad roads and zero access, you are back again blaming governors that are prioritizing roads. Your type go abroad to snap roads and post on OG, but get angry when the government decides to expand road network.
Despite our population and landmass, Nigeria have less than 200,000 KM road network as compared to South Africa of over 750,000 KM.

If you want to work in Nigeria, just do what you believe is right. Sometimes you will be right, sometimes you will be wrong, but do what you believe is right. If you want to follow the mouth of people, they will play you like a ping pong.

The same people who complain roads are bad, when construction starts, they will stay the person is only doing it to steal. That was how Nigerians used to brag. 'we are paying for darkness, we are ready to pay the full amount for power if power improves". Then FG did a starged increase and called it band A.... Suddenly same people change mouth and say they non wan do again, say they cannot afford it. Same folks who were bragging before.

.abi.. construction of roads is also important..but let the governors also focus on electricity.. constant electricity light supply.. constant electricity light supply creates jobs, create a conducive environment for businesses companies industries to thrive, brings development in rural areas and urban areas, constant electricity light supply can attract foreign investors into the country for investment

it's always a problem for you people anytime a SS or SE governor constructs roads yet you celebrated the planting of flowers in Lagos state aka beautification. Did the communities who are to benefit from that road project complain to you abi you want Rivers state to be as dilapidated as Ogun ?

The main roads are bad.
The main roads in Port Harcourt are all bad, I mean, major roads.

He should fix them before focusing on this coastal project.

I carried a friend and his wife home from church only to discover that some of the flyovers have portholes also.

The whole of Aba road has portholes. The other roads to rukpokwu has it's own.

Road to Rumuokoro is bad. Rumuodara is a bad. Everywhere across the state is bad. I hardly go out but when I do, I don't enjoy driving because of the bad roads.
