While welcoming traditional rulers during a recent event in Rivers state, governor Fubara made a remark about one of them. He said, "Eze ochi oha Akabuka, that title is an Igbo title but you said you are not from Igbo" to the amusement of the audience.

They may actually not be Igbo but influenced by proximity to a dominant majority tribe similar to what was reported in authoritative literature account of the Asaba indigenous people history.

The Bini people's case may be viewed differently though. They are reminded that Ọba is a Yoruba word to remind them of the Yoruba origin of their Bini royalty from Ile Ife.

The Bini royalty and other Yoruba families directly from Ile Ife are still leading Bini people till date.
Any bini person who is not directly from the bini royalty or Yoruba families struggle to understand it. I think there are just 6 or so families like the Adu family that are Yoruba from Ile Ife. The other bini families are not regarded as Yoruba.

Bini case is similar to the English monarchy (House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha dynasty) who are from Germany but their English subjects include people who are not originally from Germany.

The language belongs to Niger-Congolese and not Igbo.

Why are you trying to spin the conversation as if you know better than the Governor?
It's not about the "Eze" meaning King. It's about the Igbo title. Have you seen Bini King answering Oba then followed by a Yoruba nomenclature?

They're masters of emotional blackmail. They will make you feel guilty for defending yourself, yet they won't stop attacking you while vigorously defending themselves. They will accusse you of nepotism while exhibiting the worst strand of nepotism. It comes naturally to them, so much so that they do all these impulsively, and at the same time are genuinely flabbergasted when you call them out for such behaviour.
