Its for business and economic reasons.
It much sense to invest in refinary and selling byproduct of crude oil.
Also, it is capital intensive to build refinary, so it is easier to sell crude than to build for quick profit.

Please think it through yourself, who will think of building a big refinery in the south east at the moment, with the level of unrest in that region of the country.

Venezuela also over imports. Like now in Nigeria, we manufacture things like toilet roll, soap, even pasta . Venezuela imports all of that. No domestic manufacturing.

Add the fact that venezuelan oil costs a lot to process ( high sulphur content)..and the high amounts they spend on subsidy, and the losses they get to smuggling, wahala dey

Officially, South east has 3 oil producing states.
Imo state, Abia state and Anambra State.

The three states combined are producing 31k bpd while Lagos and Ondo are producing 100k. Let's not go to South South because they're the real crude producers, not the Southeast!

Nobody will think of building refinery in the southeast but those same people are drilling oil daily from southeast. They can drill southeast oil but can't build a refinery in the southeast

Many Southeasterners have Oil Mining licences, and some have licences to build refineries since the days of OBJ, why are they not building refineries?
