Borno Unveils Plastic Factory, Begins Exportation by Pakute(op): 6:13pm On Oct 31, 2025
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, on Thursday unveiled the Borno Plastic Factory, announcing the commencement of both nationwide distribution and exportation of its plastic products to neighbouring countries.

Zulum made the announcement during an inspection tour of the facility located in the new Maiduguri Industrial Area, describing it as part of his administration’s strategy to industrialise the state and reduce dependence on federal allocations.

“I am happy to note that people from Borno State will no longer procure plastic materials from other places,” the governor said.

He disclosed that the factory had already received and executed international orders, with finished plastic wares shipped to Chad and Cameroon, while sales were ongoing to several states across Nigeria.

“You have seen that the products have been sold to our neighbouring countries and other states within Nigeria. We will invest more in our industries so that, in the near future, Borno State Government will no longer rely on the Federation Account for its day-to-day activities,” Zulum added.

The governor explained that although the factory was originally constructed under the administration of former Governor Kashim Shettima, it had been revived and expanded as part of his government’s recovery and development plan.

To ensure sustainability and profitability, Zulum said the state adopted a Public-Private Partnership model, placing management under Tatabe Global Services, which now oversees daily operations, production, and marketing, while the state provides oversight and an enabling business environment.

According to him, the factory, now operating at full capacity, produces a wide range of household and industrial plastic items, including chairs, tables, basins, and other wares. It has also created hundreds of direct jobs for Borno indigenes, providing a vital source of livelihood.

“The factory has become a model for industrial revival and youth empowerment in our state,” the governor noted.

Zulum was accompanied on the tour by the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, principal officers of the House, and other senior government officials.

Coming from someone that cannot even feed himself, you have to wait for farmers in Borno to feed you. If you want to know how special it is, look around your small room, if you won't find any plastic or plastic products.
These are the people that will demean hard work but would surrender their lives to carry white powder abroad. What a shame.

Produce first na before you start exporting. Why seeking validation by making statement of intent without verified capacity to deliver

This same Borno that opposition exaggerate the security situation in the state. Borno state is safer than their states. This kind of thread will crawl before reaching the frontpage but if it's a news about attacks, it would have jumped on the frontpage.
Same Borno state is opening factory, God bless President Tinubu, God bless Nigeria Armed Forces.

How did this fool become a professor? This man is looking for good news after the news that he spent N2.6 billion on "repentant" Boko Haram terrorists who are leaking information to militants.

This is the exact model government, federal, state and local government should adopt in righting this economy. Industries all over the place. That is what they should be spending their 'scarce' resources on. These are the entrepreneurial assets worth borrowing money for.

Seed industries, wean them and collect back your capital as they begin to trade, then move to the next enterprise. In no time , over the course of a few governments the whole place will be filled with them.

Then your IGR is sure, then your infrastructure projects are easily funded. Then those in employment are much more tooled to contribute to the economy of your locality through taxation.

For us that live in Abuja and see the hordes of youth roaming about the city everyday, what is the FCT minister doing about industrialization, enterprise creation that will found a REAL economy.

It is not all about contracting, roads, bridges, housing. Al so the means to fuel development by productivity. If his working capital is not split evenly between infrastructure and industrialization he is simply creating an unsustainable economy that will decay from within. Idu industrial is there. Get is ticking.

There are trucks and trucks pouring into the city everyday bringing imported goods to service the construction industry for starters. Get just one or two items to make in the city.
