This is Rubbish ❌ Is it because Tinubu is your kinsmen❓ If Jonathan has won in 2015, he would have completed another term. |

favor914:You are not dealing with a kid who's just pressing phone online. Some historical facts happened in our presence and we were not just quoting what we heard or read. Peter Obi was sworn in as Governor of Anambra State three times, though his total time in office spanned from 2006 to 2014. His first term was marked by a legal battle that led to his initial impeachment in November 2006 and subsequent reinstatement in February 2007. He later won re-election for a second term in 2010. First Swearing-in: March 17, 2006, after a court declared him the winner of the 2003 election. Second Swearing-in: February 9, 2007, after his impeachment was overturned by the courts, allowing him to complete his first term. Third Swearing-in: February 7, 2010, after winning his re-election bid for a second term. |

Except based on ethnic sentiments It's sad that anyone would even consider GEJ as president. And don't tell me about him better than PMB or PBAT as your reason. Because it's not a good enough reason to choose between eating ones vomit or ones feceaces. We should be going forward to search for better alternatives not retrogression. His Minister of Petroleum stole the country blind. |

favor914:Under Section 137(3) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended in 2018), Goodluck Ebele Jonathan can still contest for the presidency again—but with a key limitation. Why? 1. Jonathan's Tenure: - He was elected as President in 2011 (after completing the remaining term of late President Yar'Adua from 2010). - He served one full term (2011–2015)** before losing to Buhari. 2. Does Section 137(3) Affect Him? - No, because the Fourth Alteration Act (2018), which introduced Section 137(3), does not apply retroactively to his case. - The provision mainly affects future scenarios where a VP completes a predecessor’s term and then seeks re-election. 3. Constitutional Limit: - The Constitution bars a President from serving more than two terms (8 years). - Since Jonathan only served one full elected term (2011–2015), he can legally run again. Conclusion: -Jonathan is NOT permanently barred from contesting. - If he runs and wins, he can serve one more term (2027–2031)because he hasn’t exhausted the two-term limit. |

jmichael259:Because u lame man knows more than the former president of the Court of Appeal abi? Go & finance Jonathan to run for election in 2027, it is easy for empty barrels that have nothing @ stake to be running their mouths. Maybe u are not aware that this Jonathan’s eligibility was the reason that them Saraki, Atiku & Co ditched Pdp in 2013/14, because no one was ready to wait for the Supreme court to remove him if he had won. |
| Re: Why GEJ Will Be Removed If He Wins 2027 Election – Ex-Appeal Court President by AlphaTaikun: 8:00pm On Oct 31, 2025 |
Pakute:Justice Ayo Salami is absolutely correct. Under the law, the Yar'Adua Presidency and Goodluck Jonathan Presidency are 1. Therefore Jonathan completed the remaining 2 years tenure of Yar'Adua and won a FULL 4-year term making a total of 6 years. He is therefore NOT eligible to contest for the 2027 Presidential election. If GEJ had won the 2015 elections, he would have been challenged in court by Buhari and told by the Appeal Court and then affirmed by the Supreme Court to vacate office. It's most shameful that a lot of the young posters on this thread right from Page 1 show a complete lack of comprehension of the very CLEAR English language used in Justice Ayo Salami's article and these clueless posters are far WORSE than the political leaders they blindly criticize (which further shows that it's a large part of the followers or bigots among the electorate in Nigeria that are the MAJOR problems of that country) leading to a lack of development. Only self-awareness will solve this human capacity problem. |

Sometimes some people talk like they just awoke from a bad dream. Has he forgotten Jonathan is where he is after losing an election to Buhari? Why didn't the law prevent him from contesting that election? |

Bluntemperor:During GEJ time I owned 2 flourishing biz ( a grilling outlet and where I sell recharge cards and mobile phones) and life was good bcs the minimum wage then can at least get you a techno android phone (M3 and the likes) or you could entertain yourself and friends with 3-5k so I make make a lot of sales, unlike today where the minimum wage can't even get you a 2nd hand android phone. I have always been a biz guy right from my late teens . The only person who can tell if an economy is good is a biz man. And can you compare the number of industry during GEJ to what we have now P&G and the likes where flourishing then but today they have all left due to the low purchasing power caused by anti-people policies by T!nubu. DaniDani:Honestly. I'm almost certain that I'm not going to vote in 2027 without Jonathan's candidacy. I like Peter Obi quite alright, but he can't stand against Tinubu by himself in 2027. A lot of things have gone wrong since 2023, not particularly his fault, but the ethnic politics played by the dem*nic party. |

favor914:Finishing the term of an impeached or dead principal doesn't make it your term. The president and vice are on a joint ticket doesn't mean the vice is equally a president. In the constitution only one person can be sworn in at a time unless death, impeachment or end of tenure before a new person's administration can be sworn in. The 2018 amendment trying to stop any deputy who has served out 2yrs of his principal tenure from running more than another one term still doesn't say that it's because they served together. Oshiomhole's deputy and many more went on to serve two tenures as governor. That means they were sworn in how many times? What of Osibanjo or Atiku that's still running? What will stop any of them from being in office for 8yrs should they win? The fact is maybe you know what you're trying so hard to say but everything you've quoted is averse to your argument. *Jonathan would not have been ineligible if he had won in 2015. *The law was amended later on in Buhari tenure. *Having been part of joint ticket as deputy governor or vice president is not what disqualifies the individual from running. |
