GEJ established and built 5 federal universities, it's under GEJ that Nigeria maintained it status of economic power house, most Nigerians don't bother to jappa then to the extent that there was even VISA lotteries programs just to convince Nigerians.
We even hosted U-17 world cup whereby Nigeria can't even try to host common inter-house sport successfully.
It's during his time that the telcos industry was booming that even Etisalat was flourishing, the truth is that the telcos industry is now a shadow of it self .
The APC led government took Nigeria to century back that CEFA is now stronger that the NAIRA which was not attainable under GEJ.

1. Jonathan's Tenure:
- He was elected as President in 2011 (after completing the remaining term of late President Yar'Adua from 2010).
- He served one full term (2011–2015)** before losing to Buhari.

2. Does Section 137(3) Affect Him?
- No, because the Fourth Alteration Act (2018), which introduced Section 137(3), does not apply retroactively to his case.
- The provision mainly affects future scenarios where a VP completes a predecessor’s term and then seeks re-election.

3. Constitutional Limit:
- The Constitution bars a President from serving more than two terms (8 years).
- Since Jonathan only served one full elected term (2011–2015), he can legally run again.

Conclusion:
-Jonathan is NOT permanently barred from contesting.
- If he runs and wins, he can serve one more term (2027–2031)because he hasn’t exhausted the two-term limit.

Justice Ayo Salami is absolutely correct.
Under the law, the Yar'Adua Presidency and Goodluck Jonathan Presidency are 1. Therefore Jonathan completed the remaining 2 years tenure of Yar'Adua and won a FULL 4-year term making a total of 6 years.

He is therefore NOT eligible to contest for the 2027 Presidential election. If GEJ had won the 2015 elections, he would have been challenged in court by Buhari and told by the Appeal Court and then affirmed by the Supreme Court to vacate office.

It's most shameful that a lot of the young posters on this thread right from Page 1 show a complete lack of comprehension of the very CLEAR English language used in Justice Ayo Salami's article and these clueless posters are far WORSE than the political leaders they blindly criticize (which further shows that it's a large part of the followers or bigots among the electorate in Nigeria that are the MAJOR problems of that country) leading to a lack of development. Only self-awareness will solve this human capacity problem.

Jonathan is not interested in running, nobody among is interested in him running and that's not the point of this argument. Diversion doesn't win debates.

Maybe u are not aware that this Jonathan’s eligibility was the reason that them Saraki, Atiku & Co ditched Pdp in 2013/14, because no one was ready to wait for the Supreme court to remove him if he had won. The same eligibility that wasn't amended until 2018? Kid please. The people you mentioned had ambitions and they're northerners who connived with some Sabo southerners like Amaechi for their interests. It was all about the feeling that north was cheated out of their turn by Yar'Adua death and giving Jonathan a second term was too long to keep waiting plus Tinubu's alliance with Buhari in attempt to obtain his emilokan administration. We were not born yesterday neither do we have short term memory. We were all here when it was happening in 2014. P.S. nobody has ruled this country for 10years. We no dey gree.
