Apothecary Diaries is what you get if you knead House MD with Sherlock and let it set in imperial China. Now sprinkle a bit of soap opera intrigue and add a subtle hint of commentary on gender. I'm very impressed by this anime. The character writing is just too solid. The mysteries always had good stories behind them with enough going on in the background that it didn't ever feel like just a procedural crime drama or medical drama. Each mystery always tied back to that one major theme of how ultimately women's role in that society was the cause of so much needless suffering. All in all a very solid show. 3 Likes 2 Shares

I just found out tomorrow is Cinema day!!! I was booking ticket to see the Chainsawman movie at THC cinema in Agege...I saw it for just 2k... wtf Same as Viva cinema at Ikeja You can spend your entire day in cinema tomorrow... Most movies will be very cheap 2k per movie Any movie at all across Nigeria 2 Likes

Chainsawman movie: Reze Arc.....9.5/10 “Hey, Denji, which one would you choose? The Town Mouse or the Country Mouse?” My only complaint with this movie is that it should have been longer. The movie is an absolute banger. Everything from the character writing of Denji and Reze to the stunning animation. Reze singing in Russian will be stuck in my head for a long time...

Tatsuki Fugimoto 17-26 An anthology of 8 short stories written by the author of Chainsawman, Lookback and Goodbye Eri at ages 17-26. Fugimoto is so lucky with many of his works getting great adaptations. I can't wait for Goodbye Eri to be animated as well

NoonMasamune:(Answering from my perspective) I was born in 1980 (old man here,  ) and for most of my life, getting a collection of anime would have been difficult. Original ones. Living in Nigeria, it would have been too too expensive and (coming from a relatively poor house that did not have a vcr till 1991)...difficultBack then, unless you came from a very rich household, and could afford to import VHS tapes...nothing for you. (TO watch an entire season may require you getting from 4-20 tapes. For one anime. Now imagine 20 series...and it was all too expensive. ) No market for anime and manga in most of the country then...even now self. I abandoned anime watching when I entered university,and only started again in 2011. As a child, the only anime we got was what NTA showed us...ie voltron and g-force (repeated again and again where I was..). Collecting anime? Not with sites like crunchyroll and pirate sites,and torrenting, where you can download the stuff easily...you can even have 1TB with over 100 or more anime and manga downloaded. Or just stream and enjoy. Even if I wanted to collect...it would have been expensive (I spent a lot of money some years ago just to get a copy of a light novel of my favorite series from abroad, and it was even second hand self). |
