It’s about time world leaders paid attention to what’s happening in Nigeria. Christians have been targets of brutal attacks for years with little or no response. Muslims are also affected.
This shows that the overall security situation in Nigeria is alarming. When leadership remains indecisive, it’s only right that international voices step in.
But statements like this from Trump could also shape how investors and the global community perceive Nigeria and that’s something our leaders need to take seriously

Interesting times ahead

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Nigerian government is complicit in the killings, kidnappings, and banditry of innocent citizens.
People once suggested anti-grazing laws as a solution to the violent clashes between Fulani herders and local farmers. Yet, we don’t even know if those laws were ever truly promulgated, let alone enforced. Because if they were, we wouldn’t still be hearing stories of farmers being killed on their own land.

How do we explain a government that releases so-called “repentant bandits,” offers them rewards, and even negotiates with them, while ordinary citizens accused of lesser crimes languish in detention for years without trial?

No one can convince me that the Nigerian governors, lawmakers, president, and vice president are not, in some way, part of the violence and insecurity consuming this country.
