The US under Mr Biden left Afghanistan in a hurry after several years of unsuccessful attempts to defeat islamists in the country.

In previous years, Russia spent I think 2 decades in Afghanistan fighting and lost thousands of men doing so. It too left the country with its tail between it legs.

My point is dispersed and scattered banditry, terrorism,and in Nigeria's case, mixed with cattle rustling, illegal mining, and farmer - herder insurgency are very difficult to defeat.

Niger State alone is the size of many countries in Europe. And then there are other huge states across the North where the Nigerian government machinery is simply not present in adequate numbers, if any. That has been the case since independence.

If you put the entire Nigerian army in Niger state alone, they will be grounded there, like the US and Russia were in Afghanistan, and still not completely eradicate banditry and terrorism in that State.

While the army is grounded in Niger, how about Benue, Bornu, Kaduna, Sokoto and several other states.

It is a complex situation.

The army is trying, but Nigeria simply doesn't have the number of military personnel to cover every where.

Yes they are killings in Nigeria but it is not religious.
I think the motive is far deeper. Americans has had government shutdown for 31days now yet the President of America is more interested in Nigeria.
In most cities in America at least 5-12 people are shot and killed every week, infact recent data shows that homicide rate in united state of America is 270 to 300 weekly! (1 person every 31mintes) yet President Trump is more interested in Nigeria killings.

The question is what does the President Trump want from Nigeria?
The same America that collaborated with NATO and claimed Gaddafi is a "dictator" and they invaded Libya at the time the country was growing exponentially in human and capital development. Today Libya is in ruins. They stole from Libya and destroy the country.

Yes America can help but the people dancing here will be sorely disappointed at the outcome because they don’t care about the killings, they think America is coming to be their political babysitter. America will bomb certain areas back to the stoneage and will help divide Nigeria for a permanent solution since we’re not the same to begin with and the insecurity has been going on for 15 or more years.
