Omo Igbo: Bokku Mart Tenders Apology by shortgun(op): 9:19am On Nov 01, 2025
October 31, 2025

Bokku Mart Stands for Unity and Respect We are deeply saddened and disturbed by a video recently shared online that contained offensive and hurtful language.

The language used in the video was unacceptable and deeply misaligned with Bokku's values. While the content originated from an external influencer and was published by a third-party media firm without prior review by our team, we take full responsibility for its appearance on our platforms.

We have since strengthened our content approval and vendor oversight processes to ensure such an incident never happens again.

Bokku Mart is more than a retail brand, we are a proudly Nigerian company built on love for our people and communities. Our mission is to make everyday life better for ALL Nigerians by ensuring access to quality products at affordable prices. We celebrate our nation's rich diversity and stand firmly against all forms of discrimination.

Yours sincerely, Bokku! Mart Management

If that advert was done 20 years ago. There wouldn't have been any issues.

We must understand that the current political climate is now seriously ethnocentricised. Nigerians are now more ethnically conscious than they were just 2 decades ago..

Everything is now looked at via an ethnic prism, and everyone should come to terms with that fact.

God help the proponents of 'One Nigeria', they are failing faster everyday, than the speed with which excrement hits the soakway from the toilets.

They have become more popular but lost a significant market share, time will tell how these things will play out, meanwhile the girl that dragged an innocent company into this mess is still free

APC came with divisive tactics since 2015. I thought Tinubu’s would change it and unite Nigeria, unfortunately he’s worse that Buhari in ethnic politics

Story story story.
The hate towards Igbos is real.
Re: Omo Igbo: Bokku Mart Tenders Apology by SatoshiX: 2:10pm On Nov 01, 2025
They shouldn't have. Afterall, Maryan Moghalu didn't see anything wrong with her distasteful utterance against Lagos state.

Someone should please enlighten me, what is wrong with Omo Igbo?

I'm glad to be addressed as such. Are some people ashamed to be identified by their ethnicity?

When a Yoruba man is sick, he seeks for an experience doctor that can treat him, he doesn’t care what tribe the person comes from

When an Igbo man is sick he looks for competence rather than patronising tribe

When an Hausa/fulani man falls sick, he does the same

BUT when it comes to taking decisions that will take your country forward, a Yoruba man, an Igbo man, an Hausa/Fulani man starts playing tribal cards

If you can seek competence when it involves your life, why can’t you seek competence when it comes to moving your country forward ?

I also wondered when they began processing and selling it. 😂😂😂

Despite being born and raised in Lagos, I only tasted it once and that was in primary 5, during one of our home economics classes and never comfortable with the taste and look....stuck to my yellow garri till date, whenever I feel like having garri.
Re: Omo Igbo: Bokku Mart Tenders Apology by federal9: 2:15pm On Nov 01, 2025
Okay, apologies accepted, but not igbo or yoruba. Let's stop the hate.

I was even surprised seeing people justifying what she said and feeling happy about it.

Even the Bible talked about a moment people would start defending evil and would be proud about it.

Look at what's happening in politics, religion, tribalism and so on.

Let's not allow all those useless stuff make us incompetent or evil, please. Always call out evil when you sight one and don't keep shut because the person is your padi or tribe person.

Bokku can never lose customers because their products are very affordable and of high quality. Times are hard; real people are trying to survive.

Nobody is beyond mistakes. You'd better wake up. The Bokku store in my street still has long queues of buyers even as I type this.
Re: Omo Igbo: Bokku Mart Tenders Apology by Jcchux: 2:22pm On Nov 01, 2025
Bokku knew what they were doing not to apologise immediately. They allowed it to linger for an extended period because every PR, be it bad or good is PR and leaves your brand name out for the customers to savour on. Then when it seem the news is going down then a good time to flash an apology to still remain in the media. Your PR team knows what they are doing.

social media has made anyone with followers feel like a god. Had it been they spent money in using a educated and qualified person for that advert it wouldn't have resulted to this.
