In a bold and fiery declaration, the South-East PDP Youth Forum has issued a stern warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, urging him not to play any role that could undermine the long-standing zoning arrangement within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking after an emergency meeting held in Enugu, the youths insisted that 2027 is the rightful turn of the South-East to produce Nigeria’s next president, stressing that any attempt to derail this would be met with stiff resistance from the region’s political stakeholders and youths.

The group’s spokesperson, Comrade Chijioke Nwankwo, accused certain “power brokers” within the PDP of plotting to sideline the South-East in favor of other regions, a move he described as “a direct assault on fairness, equity, and justice.”

“The PDP was built on equity and rotation of power. It is time for the Igbos to take their rightful place. We are watching Wike closely. Any attempt to frustrate the zoning of the PDP presidential ticket to the South-East will be resisted by all legitimate means,” the statement read.



The South-East PDP Youths further called on other political parties, including the APC, Labour Party, and NNPP, to field credible presidential candidates from the South-East in the spirit of national unity and inclusivity.

“Nigeria cannot continue to marginalize a region that has contributed immensely to national development. 2027 must be the year the South-East produces the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the group declared.



They vowed to mobilize millions of young voters across the country to rally behind any political formation that gives the South-East a fair chance at the presidency.

Political observers believe this latest warning signals growing tension within the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections, especially as internal power tussles intensify between loyalists of Wike and the party’s traditional base in the South-East.

As 2027 draws closer, one thing is clear — the battle for Nigeria’s presidency is heating up, and the South-East is no longer willing to be sidelined.

PDP and all political parties must zone their presidential ticket to south east region or there will be unforseen circumstances within Nigeria that can not be resolved.
