By this coup I think the government has come to the sad reality that they don't even have the full support of the so called North.
Alot of political realignment will commence hence forth the governors don't seem to have the grassroot support. I expect the president to begin to make more deals across the north.
If south easterners led the coup it would have fit the narrative that they are just disgruntled but look at the spread of northerners involved. The the funny one was the involvement of Timpriye Sylvia. A Bayelsa man. I can't wait for the full story of this coup
Something is really off.

Yorubas are afraid to call it Hausafulanis coup.

So are we agreeing this is a Hausa/Fulani coup??
WizardOfNG:
I have noticed it is you, OP and your ethnic co-travellers supporting the so-called coup with all manner of excuses. You even ignorantly cite a "toxic tax policy", trying to make the crime fit the man (Tinubu) by force, to describe beneficial tax reforms you know nothing about expert globally have endorsed .

If I recall correctly one poster, Maxymilliano, even praised those locked up for planning the said coup as "heroes".

Even long before now, you have begged for a coup desperately to remove Tinubu. Your pastor advised Remi Tinubu to poison her husband so he would not sworn in.

You guys never learn. The Igbo coup, and the inital revenge coup it precipitated, plus the many that happened afterwards once your fathers and grandfather had set the precedence, is the cause of virtually every negative thing Nigeria has become today.

You should take note of what Kperogi wrote, repeated below, which is the reason many wise, responsible and critical-thinking folks , including Kperogi himself, have not been saying much about this coup because they understand the grave consequences it portered for Nigeria if indeed such an incendiarily ethnocentric coup had been planned and succeeded.

Unlike you immature lot who, like toddlers, don't think of long term consequences of actions once you want a certain outcome badly.

Personally, I have not said anything about the alleged coup and won't say much beyond this post. We make our beds and lay in it, as men, after the consequences arrive.

Although that is never the case with you 'cut your nose to spite your face' lot who, for example, followed Kanu and co blindly, thinking you were taking the battle to Fulanis, yet you have now destroyed your own region and done damage that will take decades to repair.

You want Tinubu out so your Igbo Presidency dream can materialise? Embrace democracy and achieve your objective that way. Lies, propaganda and support for what will potentially destroy countless lives, so you get your way, won't lead to your Igbo Presidency ever.

All a huge hoax. Why?? A coup if really intended, would have been successful.
No it can't, Nigerias democratic framework is so strong and complex to allow such.
Moreover it would have been a foolish thing to do. The country might plunge into chaos and potentially civil war. We have not even talked about the economic implications because there'd would sanctions from the UN and major world powers.

The government have given Nigerians are reply, whether they chose to believe it or not, isn't the government's business. Bottom line, believe what you want to believe.

What I do believe is this, the security agencies will start raiding and detaining many politicians within the nearest future.

Tinubu being a Yoruba man is what is securing him there. You think your agulu fraud wouldn't have been yanked off that seat in he same situation? Lilz. Yorubas are not igbos that make noise and chestbeat while hiding under their beds. As Kperogi pointed out, the coup would've been the end of Nigeria if it had been carried out. Yorubas would've been pissed, and Yorubas being pissed always hit Nigeria hard (check "wet I e", 1983 riots that led to Buhari coup, June 12).
Yorubas were pissed it led to a coup, how is that any new considering we are already talking about a coup
Continue deceiving yourself, even party memwbers and supporters are saying in secret'we've never had it this bad'

Tinibu is just scared of the consequences of calling it a coup he won't have wasted a second calling it a coup if the coup plotters were to be from the south east.

Insightful and brilliantly crafted.

There are actually more at stake that your narrow ethnic aggradanizement.
A coup signify instability which in turn drive investments away and make it difficult for the country to move forward.
It is not always about you.

Kperogi put it succinctly, a coup against Tinubu will start something far bigger than June 12 1993. With the Ipobs waiting for any opportunity to jump the ship, it is not too far fetched to say the plotters will have no country to govern.

One thing I don't understand in people's comments that " FG should tell the truth about the coup" is if Tinubu come on Media and said there was coup attempt what will this people do?.

In my own opinion, the way they handle it silently is the best. Just to avoid panic in general /public domine

Just imagine if it were during Buhari’s tenure and the Southwest planned a coup , what do you think would have happened? Or imagine if it were the Southeast that planned a coup under Tinubu’s government; the backlash would have been massive. But now that it’s the North allegedly planning a coup under a Southwest-led government, everyone seems quiet , no backlash, no outrage. It only goes to show that the North appears to hold a kind of dominance in Nigeria’s political structure, almost like new colonial masters.

The alleged coup if it had happened nothing would have happened except that to run as would be left alone to live with their atrocities that bothers betrayal. Jonathan was a southern president who was yet to complete two terms in office. It was yorubas who arranged with he North to oust him. Igbos and other nationalities in the major South were with Good luck except the the Yoruba western South. They conived with the North and removed him.

Tinubu is a abysmally poor leader. He is meant to have been sacked through impeachment. Even though I don't support coup of any form but if it had happened tinubu would have been removed and yorubas would only shout and be tamed.

A country with diverse groups and interests is not governed exactly like your village clan.
If you think you know half of what is going on in the government of any country not just Nigeria then I have a bridge to sell for you on river Niger.

Lol. Expected response. You may be 50 or even 60 but you, like most of your kinsmen, lack emotional intelligence plus the capacity to think critically and pragmatically.

You will always fail and come up short per societally important considerations like political leadership and public administration of ethno-religiously diverse geographical spaces .

This is because, beyond what matters to you and yours most i.e making money by any means possible, you will always lack the desirable quality man needs to understand what is most important about life and humanity that enables him do the right things so that different people lumbered together in a geographical space naturally seek and achieve compromises that aids the greater good of all.

Nwosu, there’s nothing like APC or PDP. We know fully well Nigerian politics is ethnoreligious in nature .
Stop running around .
Unfortunately for you cowards, Tinubu is not someone to mess with because he’s bigger than all of you .
It’s either you allow him complete his tenure and wait to remove him at the ballot or be ready to have your asses kicked out of the nooks and crannies of Oodua land .
The choice is yours !

That is your own headache . Tinubu can even be the devil himself but this is democracy. Wait and remove him at the ballot .
Your coup is dead on arrival .
Tinubu should use this as an alibi to unbundle the Nigerian military . Go after the supporters of APC .
This is a golden opportunity and he must not misuse it

Many issues led to that coup, not the senseless killings of the people of Ondo and Oyo states,it started in 1963 in your western region

There has been an aborted military coup against every president from the south since 1999.

Tinubu and his cabals should sit down and ask themselves tactical questions like--"Where have they done or gone wrong for these men to start planning coup". Something we've never heard of since Nigeria returned to democracy angry

Nothing irritates me more than this nonsensical, hypocritical talk of 'Southern' presidency.

NOTHING would have happened if the coup had succeeded, other than a few suppressed rantings in the South West. The South East and South South would look on with utmost indifference, or relief, even.
More like relief mixed with jubilations, I suppose...

Can you or anybody else explain to me how and why the country would have plunged into a Civil War because of a Coup by mainly Northern soldiers against a barely legitimate Yoruba sleezeball of a president with ZERO national acceptability or popularity.

Who and who would be angry enough with such a development to trigger/participate in a so-called civil war? Which masses or which 'rebels' or which troops will be for or against the other in such a war? I agree I am 'ignorant', but at least I am willing to learn. Make una explain to me like a 5 year old.
