This #100m bribe is a bogus claim that needs to be verify. Reason why they couldn't name the coach nor the national team involved. Even agent of super eagles player won't bribe with such an audacious amount. . Be that as it may, now lets break down this bribe issue from our national team coaches and beyond. I want to say it with utmost clarity, there's no Nigeria national team coaches be it black or white that doesn't collect bribes from either some players or their agents. Let's start with the first Super Eagles coach I first know which is Clemence Westerhof, who coach Nigeria from 1989 till 1994. Westerhof during his tenure had one of the best pool of Nigeria players to select from. But even at that, Westerhof made some of them pay before they can make the national team. And how did he do it? Westerhof became an agent to most of the players. He fix most of the players to foreign clubs in his native Holland and neighbouring Belgium. His commission is 40/60% in your first sign on fee. Some players even claim he go as far as collecting 60/40%. . Reason why, in the early 90s most of our players were based in Holland and Belgium. The likes of Stephen Keshi, Amokachi, Tijani Babagida, Siasia, Oliseh and co. Nduka Ugbade who was on the brink of becoming the first player ever to have played at the U17, U20 and senior world cup was cut off by Westerhof from going to the US 94 world cup bcus he refused to let Westerhof become his agent and shared in his sign on fees. . Ever since then, no national team coach be it a Nigeria or a white that doesn't collect bribes from players. Some may not even ask, but the players will be giving them as a form of gift or coach "take this one take hold body". Now collecting bribes doesn't mean they don't take the best players to tournament as some of you will always say. First of, every coaches wants to succeed so that he can last in that job or use it to get a better and lucrative one. So having said that, no coach will take all round mediocres to any tournament. So what do they always do. . Before any coach go for any tournament, he already has his best 11 and even 4 to 5 extras who are good. He doesn't joke with this first 11 and others, wether they like bribe him or not. So apart from this 11 to 15 players which the coach has already identify has good enough for him. There comes the space for the remaining 5 to 7 players to complete the full squad. This is where the ones that they or their agents or NFF members bring for the coaches to fix in with either monetary gift or cars or house. But mind you guys, not that these players are not also good o, just that they are not exceptional or bang average. A coach can't fix in someone who doesn't know how to kick football just bcus he dash him #1b, it will be openly known by other players. . So going into the tournament, the coaches prayers are for his first 11 and reserves to really help him go far or win the tournament. And most of the time, they go on to win the tournament and we all will praise them and most times when they don't and the talk of not selecting good players and bribery will come up. Nigeria have won the U17 world cup a record 5 times. And I can beat my chest and tell you guys that not in anyone of those winning teams that they aren't players who makes it thru bribery of the coaches. Example is the 2013 set which Kelechi Iheanacho and co won. I had a younger brother who didn't make it bcus we couldn't raise the 500k demanded by the technical crew. My brother came back home and complain of the money for back and selection going on. And he was a very good player. But the team ended up winning the tournament. And the coaches and players were praised, nobody remembers if some players got there thru bribe or favoritism. . We all heard how David Alaba said he was rejected from the Yemi Tella squad of 2007 that has Chrisantus Macaulay and co for not paying some money. But the team ended up as winners and his claims was brushed off. So why is it that when the team fails in tournament, you all think it's bcus of bribery or not selecting good players. Another more example to give. In 2005, Samson Siasia took a certain player named Gift Atulewa to the U20 world cup in Holland. This player was a former classmates of mine at College of Commerce Warri Delta State. We passed out in the year 2003. Gift was a good player even though not exceptional, he was an Ijaw guy from Siasia's home town. He told us that even though he didn't have the money to give or bribe Siasia, Siasia took him to the tournament with the agreement to split his match bonuses and allowances and eventual winner bonuses. Which he readily agreed to. . At the tournament, Gift played in one or two matches coming in 90+ min most of the time. But he was part of the team that got the final and received money and gifts. Apart from him that I know personally, they'll be others. But bcus the team was successful, nobody will bat an eyelid that Siasia didn't take good players or collected bribes. Is it Stephen Keshi's squad of 2013 that won the Nations cup. That squad was filled with players who bribed their way to the team. Keshi went as far as selecting his in law to the 2014 world cup, I have forgotten the guy's name. The player back then looks like Flavour the singer. In Keshi's case, I wasn't surprised bcus he truly learn from his boss Westerhof. Keshi was the sole beneficiary of Westerhof regime. Stephen Keshi went to the 1994 Nations cup and world cup with Injury, but bcus he was the first person that allows Westerhof to used him to get to Belgium. Westerhof was just taking him to tournament wether he's fit or not. So tell me why Keshi too won't do it when he too got the chance. But glorrryyy! In doing it he too was successful just like Westerhof and that is all that matters and nobody wants to know if some players got there thru bribery or not. . Now lets come to the Super Falcons, cus a lot of murmuring has been going on about Gift Monday's exclusion from the team in recent time. If nobody wants to say it, I will say it categorically here. Gift Monday is being blocked from the team bcus of Assisat Oshoala. Oshoala's influence in the team has wane or has been waning since over 2,3 or so years ago. It's bcus of her past record and money she continues given coach Justin Madugu that's still making her get selected to the detriment of Gift Monday. . But bcus the Super Falcons keep winning although as local continent champion cus to me they're not impressing me in international tournament, nobody will bat an eyelid over Gift Monday's exclusion. Another cause for why most of this coaches collect bribes from players is that, NFF don't pay them well or hardly pay them, especially the under age teams coaches. They even tell them categorically to do so to augment their pay. That's why you will some national coaches say NFF are owing them 10,11 months and over year salary and yet they refused to quit. Why bcus, they enjoy the pecks of traveling from one countries to another and the little by little the boys or players are giving them. . So let me end here by saying, our national teams, clubsides and all are not failing recently bcus coaches are not choosing the best players. But it's bcus we no more have good players as we used to have before and other African countries has really caught up with us and some have over taking us in the talent pool. I want anybody to come out and tell me we have better players somewhere else in this world than our current Super Eagles players. We all watch European football and see where all these players are playing. So they're the best we have for now, but their best can't beat teams like Rwanda, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and co convincely like their counterparts Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia e.t.c are doing. We just have to admit our time as African football giant has passed just like my Man United used to be king of England, and hope and pray the wind of football geniuses blow back to us once again like the 90s and 2000s. |

okorogodwin4:Osimhen may not pay to be selected bcus he is now a star boy. But I can bet you that till now that he will still be paying coach Amunike some money for taking him to that under 17 world cup that brought him to limelight. And there's still some possibilities that he may dashing Eric Chelle some dollars even though he knows he's indispensable |
