South African Journalist Condemns Al Jazeera Article, Says ‘Christian Genocide’ In Nigeria Driven By Islamist Ideology
October 20, 2025
NEWS

The article, written by Gimba Kakanda, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Research and Analytics, was titled “No, Bill Maher, there is no ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria.”

South African-born investigative journalist and former CBS News correspondent, Lara Logan, has publicly criticised Qatar-based global news network Al Jazeera for what she called a deliberate misrepresentation of the ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria, accusing the network of downplaying ideological extremism and blaming climate change instead.

Logan made the remarks in a post on X (formerly Twitter) while reacting to an opinion article published by Al Jazeera on October 2, 2025.

The article, written by Gimba Kakanda, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Research and Analytics, was titled “No, Bill Maher, there is no ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria.”

In the piece, Kakanda dismissed claims of systematic killings of Christians as “foreign propaganda” and said such narratives “ignore the complexities” of Nigeria’s internal conflicts.

He wrote that “Nigeria’s conflicts are multi-faceted, driven by ethnic rivalries, land disputes and criminality, with religion often secondary.” He also argued that “claims of a religious war between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria are simplistic and betray ignorance of the country’s internal dynamics.”

Responding in her X post, Logan said: “Wow. Al Jazeera is profoundly wrong on this. I have been covering the Christian Genocide in Nigeria for years - largely thanks to the incredible work of Nigerian journalists like Lawrence Zongo, Tom Garba, Masara Kim & their colleagues at Truth Nigeria.”

She accused Al Jazeera of ignoring the ideological and religious motivations behind the violence.

“Herders who carry the black flag of al Qaeda & scream ‘Allah uAkbar’ as they slaughter women & children in village after village are not motivated by climate change but ideology,” she wrote.

Logan added that the attacks were deliberately designed to wipe out Christian communities.

“The attacks are time to destroy crops & prevent the return of people to their homes, thereby cleansing the land of Christians,” she said.

Her remarks directly contradict Kakanda’s position that “to present these conflicts as evidence of a Christian genocide erases these realities and distorts Nigeria’s history.”

Kakanda had also claimed that “most of Boko Haram’s victims have been Muslims,” and accused Western media figures such as American host Bill Maher of pushing “fabricated claims and manipulated images from unverified outlets.”

But Logan described such arguments as deceptive attempts to blur the truth.

“The truth is always simple at it’s core - those who seek to create ambiguity make it complex so they can deceive,” she stated.

Her X post has since drawn widespread attention, reigniting debate over how global media frames Nigeria’s ongoing violence.

SaharaReporters earlier reported on Monday that Nigerian actor and media consultant Joseph Chidi Okechukwu, popularly known as J. C. Okechukwu, had threatened to lead a mass boycott of Al Jazeera in response to Kakanda’s article.

He accused the network of “mocking the blood of innocent Christians” and vowed to mobilise churches and civil society groups to stop watching and engaging with Al Jazeera content unless the opinion piece was retracted and a public apology issued.

Most of the killings in the area called Biafra are done by islamists who can't stand Christians as fellow countrymen, but do not want the Biafrans to go because of their abundant oil and gas reserves..
It is a genocide.
A repeat of the 1966 - 1970 ethnic clean-si-ing of the Christian igbos by the Muslim dominated Nigeria federal government..
The whole world needs to step in and stop this "Black on Black apartheid" right now before it snowballs into a generational massacre..

Why there is Christian genocide in Nigeria — Bishop Abioye
Israel Arogbonlo
October 29, 2025

General Overseer of the Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, Bishop David Abioye, has attributed the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria to what he described as the silence and selfishness of political leaders who deny the reality of targeted killings for personal gain.

Bishop Abioye made the assertion while addressing his congregation during a sermon, accusing political leaders of turning a blind eye to mass killings for their “personal interests.”

According to him, the evidence of targeted killings against Christians is overwhelming and can no longer be dismissed.

“Information with facts can’t be thwarted. You see people (Christians) being buried in hundreds, and you said there is no genocide? What a wicked set of people!

“I agree that there are other people killed in other places for other reasons, but Christian genocide is very clear and gradually, it is eating down to the South.

“Southwest and Southeast, and many so-called leaders, for their personal interests, are claiming that it is not true,” he claimed.

His comments come amid ongoing debates over claims by some US lawmakers and religious freedom advocates that over 30 Christians are killed daily in Nigeria.

The group has called for the country to be designated as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over alleged religious persecution.

However, the Federal Government has dismissed the allegations, insisting that Nigeria’s security challenges are not religiously motivated but rather stem from criminality, banditry, and terrorism affecting all citizens regardless of faith.

Breaking: Trump Threatens to Send Troops to Nigeria 'Guns-a-Blazing' to Stop Christian Mass Killings
By Jack Davis
November 1, 2025 at 2:32pm

One day after President Donald Trump denounced the slaughter of Christians in Nigeria, he raised the possibility of military action if Nigeria does nothing to stop Islamic terrorists who have been operating with little to no governmental resistance.

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!” Trump wrote.

In a recent video posted to X, Republican Rep. Riley Moore of West Virginia noted that Nigerian Christians are facing “a systematic campaign of persecution by Islamic terrorist organizations.

“I think there is a question of their collusion in between the current Islamic government in Nigeria and the terrorist organizations that are killing Christians en masse,” he said.

Moore said there had been “7000 Christians murdered this year, that’s 35 a day are killed in Nigeria just for professing their faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

“The government in Nigeria is complicit in the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Christ,” he said in another recent interview, according to Peoples Gazette.

“If I should give some numbers really quick here: there have been 50,000 to 100,000 murdered Christians in Nigeria. This is an astounding number nobody is talking about. It’s genocidal numbers. And at the same period, we have had over 19,000 churches attacked or destroyed.”

“Nigeria has become the deadliest place in the world to be a Christian,” Moore wrote in a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio calling for action to protect Christians.

Moore had been calling for Nigeria to be declared a country of Particular Concern, which means it could lose its aid. Trump acted Friday to make that declaration.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

In response to Trump’s action, Nigeria promised it would fight extremism, but also denied the reported mass killings qualified as “genocide.”

“For the avoidance of any doubt, and out of respect for all the victims and survivors around the world of this unique and appalling crime against humanity, let the record show that there is no genocide, now or ever, in Nigeria,” Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said, according to Newsweek.

During his first term, Trump placed Nigeria on a watchlist for its actions against Christians.

Former President Joe Biden took Nigeria off the list.

US Lawmaker Moore To Tinubu: "Don’t Test Donald Trump’s Resolve On Christians Killings"
November 2, 2025
NEWS

Moore warned that others who had tested the resolve of the Trump administration in the past had failed.

A United States lawmaker, Riley Moore, has urged the Nigerian government led by President Bola Tinubu not to test the resolve of the United States government under President Donald Trump, on the alleged Christian genocide in the country.

In a post on his official X handle, Moore warned that others who had tested the resolve of the Trump administration in the past had failed.

"To the Government of Nigeria & @officialABAT: "President Trump has provided forewarning if you do not correct the current state of inaction to stop the killing of our brothers and sisters in Christ in your country. The days of the US looking the other way are over - it will never happen on @POTUS’ watch.

"I urge you to cooperate with us in preventing this atrocity that worsens everyday. We want your people to live in peace - all of them, especially Christians.

"The President has been clear. I would not to test his resolve. Many have tried and all have failed.

"We will not allow the gates of hell to prevail against the faithful."

Moore’s comments come as President Trump warned that he would deploy the U.S. military to Nigeria if the “killing of Christians” in the country does not stop.

According to Trump, the United States military may come “gun-blazing” into the country.

"If the Nigerian government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians,” he said.

While the Nigerian Government has not reacted to the threat of invasion, it has denied the existence of any Christian genocide in the country.

According to the Government, such claims are false and do not represent the daily realities in Nigeria.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that on Friday, President Trump said that in response to claims of genocide against Christians in Nigeria, he had redesignated the country as a “country of particular concern.”

He had announced the decision on his Truth Social media platform.

Reacting, however, the Nigerian government— through the country’s President, Bola Tinubu — denied that there is religious intolerance in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the President emphasised that Nigeria’s constitution enshrines the protection of religious rights and that his administration continues to ensure equality for all faiths across the country.

“Nigeria stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty,” Tinubu said.

He noted that since assuming office in 2023, his administration has maintained active engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders while working to tackle security challenges that affect citizens regardless of their religious affiliation.

“Since 2023, our administration has maintained an open and active engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders alike and continues to address security challenges which affect citizens across faiths and regions,” he stated.

Tinubu dismissed what he described as a mischaracterisation of Nigeria’s religious landscape by external observers, saying such claims fail to reflect the country’s diversity and the government’s ongoing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence.

“The characterisation of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality, nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians,” the President declared.

He stressed that religious tolerance remains central to Nigeria’s national identity, insisting that the government neither supports nor condones persecution based on faith.

“Religious freedom and tolerance have been a core tenet of our collective identity and shall always remain so. Nigeria opposes religious persecution and does not encourage it,” he affirmed.

Tinubu further underscored that Nigeria’s constitution guarantees protection for citizens of all faiths, reiterating that his administration will continue to work with international partners to promote understanding and safeguard communities.

“Nigeria is a country with constitutional guarantees to protect citizens of all faiths,” he said.

“Our administration is committed to working with the United States government and the international community to deepen understanding and cooperation on protection of communities of all faiths,” Tinubu added.

We’ll fight it out if US invades Nigeria — Fani-Kayode warns Trump
Adam Mosadioluwa
November 2, 2025

Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has warned that Nigerians will resist any attempt by the United States to invade the country following a statement by President Donald Trump directing the U.S. Department of War to prepare for possible military action against Nigeria.

In a post on X on Sunday, Fani-Kayode described Trump as a tyrant and accused him of threatening Nigeria with violence and invasion.

“Imagine a deranged & sociopathic meglomaniac & tyrant, a recalcitrant and unrepentant schoolyard and dockside bully and a cheap and shameless godless scumbag like @realDonaldTrump threatening our country with violence, military action and invasion. What a nerve!”

He said a friend had shared concerns with him over Trump’s comments, stressing that Nigeria should not tolerate being treated as subordinates by Western powers.

Responding to his friend, Fani-Kayode said Nigerians would not flee the country if the U.S. carried out its threat, adding that they would stand their ground and fight.

He criticised Nigerians for what he called cowardice and complacency in the face of foreign intimidation, saying the situation would reveal the importance of strong and courageous leadership.

The former minister also accused Trump of associating with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he likened to a modern-day Hitler, and of ignoring atrocities in Sudan while attempting to label Nigeria with a genocide tag.

He said the U.S. President was trying to provoke a crisis by branding Nigerians as killers of Christians.

“My response to her was as follows. ‘You are right. They are evil and, if he carries out his abominable threat, there will be a war. We shall not leave the country but we will fight it out with them. We behaved like cowards and allowed them to demonise us with no response. I do not know what is wrong with Nigerians but this will be the greatest challenge they have ever faced and maybe after it is all over they will appreciate the importance of having bold, articulate and courageous leaders & disavow themselves of their accursed cowardice, ignorance, pettiness, weakness, envy & complacency.’

“Trump, a fascist & an associate of the globally recognized Hitler of the 21st century, @netanyahu, has refused to call the Israeli Zionist Nazis and the UAE-backed RSF butchers of Darfur, Sudan mass murderers and genocidal maniacs but he is calling our people the “killers of Christians” and is desperately trying to label our nation with the genocide tag and create a crisis in Nigeria.”

His comment came after Trump, in a post on his Truth Social account on Saturday, instructed the U.S. War Department to prepare for a possible strike in Nigeria.

He accused the Nigerian government of turning a blind eye to what he described as the “genocide of Christians” across the country.

Trump warned that the United States would immediately halt all aid and assistance to Nigeria if the attacks on Christians continue.

He also indicated that America might intervene militarily to eliminate what he called “Islamic terrorists” responsible for the killings.

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Trump wrote.

He further stated, “I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”

US Lawmaker Moore Says Trump Will Be Given "Full Menu Of Options" To Stop Alleged Genocide In Nigeria
November 3, 2025
NEWS

Speaking to Fox News, he stated that President Donald Trump would be presented with a range of policy options on how to address the situation.

A United States lawmaker, Riley Moore, has vowed to get to the root of the alleged “genocide against Christians” in Nigeria.

Speaking to Fox News, he stated that President Donald Trump would be presented with a range of policy options on how to address the situation.

"We are going to get right to work and get to the bottom of what's happening and give President Trump a full menu of options that we can use to try to stop these killings," he said.

His comments come as Trump hinted at possible military action against Nigeria. This follows his decision to establish a team to investigate the “killings of Christians” in the country, with Moore appointed as the lead.

On Friday, President Trump said that, in response to claims of genocide against Christians in Nigeria, he had redesignated the country as a “Country of Particular Concern.”

He had announced the decision on his Truth Social media platform.

“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it,” he wrote.

The Nigerian government has denied claims of any Christian genocide in the country.

President Bola Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria’s constitution enshrines the protection of religious rights and that his administration continues to ensure equality for all faiths across the nation.

After these comments, Trump further noted that the United States military might come “gun-blazing” into Nigeria.

"If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities."

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians,” he said.

Nigeria, however, denied any genocide against Christians.

President Tinubu reiterated that “Nigeria stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty.”

He noted that since assuming office in 2023, his administration has maintained active engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders while working to tackle security challenges affecting citizens regardless of religious affiliation.

Despite the Nigerian government’s statement, Trump maintained that the United States could deploy troops or launch air strikes in Nigeria to stop what he described as the killing of large numbers of Christians in the country.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump did not rule out any form of military action, suggesting both air and ground operations were being considered.

According to Reuters, when asked whether he envisioned “troops on the ground or air strikes in Nigeria,” Trump responded: “Could be. I mean, other things. I envisage a lot of things. They’re killing record numbers of Christians in Nigeria ... They’re killing the Christians and killing them in very large numbers. We’re not going to allow that to happen.”

"Boko Haram Reduced Our 176 Churches To 28" – Gwoza Community In Borno Insists On Christian Genocide
November 4, 2025
NEWS

The Gwoza Christian Community Association in Borno State has insisted that there is an ongoing genocide being perpetrated against them by Boko Haram terrorists.

The association, in a statement jointly signed by Rev. Ayuba John Bassa and Rev. Filibus K. Goma, national coordinator and chairman of the Board of Trustees respectively, said they had documentary evidence to back their claims.

In the statement obtained by SaharaReporters, the association said: "When a Senator recently told Channels TV that there is no persecution or genocide against Christians in Borno — particularly in Gwoza — he denied the lived reality of thousands of people he does not know. We are indigenous Christians of Gwoza Local Government Area. What follows is not hearsay or political rhetoric; it is our testimony — a painful record of loss, displacement and erasure.

"Gwoza once had a thriving Christian presence. Before the insurgency, there were more than 176 large church buildings across the local government. Today, 148 of those churches were burnt and lie in ruins. Entire Christian neighbourhoods in Gwoza East and West were flattened; in many places, every Christian home was destroyed."

Reeling out other documented facts, the association further argued, "The human toll and destruction are detailed and specific. In Gava-West alone, 74 towns and villages were sacked, 36,946 families were dispersed, 99 churches were destroyed, and 292 people were killed in September 2013. In Attagara, 13 churches were destroyed, 1,738 families displaced and 140 Christians killed by 3 June 2014. By 9 August 2014, 2,203 Christian houses and 28 churches were destroyed, and 102 Christians — including three pastors — were killed in Gwoza town, Kamba and Ghraza. The total pastors killed by insurgents in Gwoza local government was 12. In other Christian towns within Gwoza, such as Ngoshe, Bokko, Pulka, Limankara, Ngoshe-sama, Barawa and Gava-North, both the loss of life and the physical destruction exceeded local expectations."

It also said that the human cost is staggering . About 107,000 Gwoza Christians are scattered in 27 internally displaced persons camps across seven Nigerian states and in the Minawao refugee camp in Cameroon, while almost 50,000 are squatting with relatives in towns and cities across Nigeria.

The association argued that this pattern — the destruction of churches, removal of Christian families, and official silence or inaction — raises an unavoidable question: Is there a systematic attempt to erase Christians and their heritage from Gwoza?

Concluding, it blamed the leadership of Christians for being too silent and compromised, while it appealed for thorough investigation to ascertain their outcry:

"We plead for truth, accountability and action. To CAN and all Christian bodies: your people are suffering. Will you continue to stand silent? Will you trade the lives and dignity of the displaced for political appointments or other gains?

"To the Nigerian government: fulfil your constitutional duty to protect every citizen irrespective of faith. Conduct independent investigations, prosecute those responsible for targeted attacks, ensure equitable reconstruction and restore the right of displaced Christians to return home with dignity and security.

"To Christians and people of conscience worldwide: pray, speak, advocate and act. Survivors in camps and ruined communities in Gwoza need more than sympathy — they need sustained attention, protection and a pathway to rebuild their lives and heritage.

"This is our testimony as indigenous Christians from Gwoza. The blood and ruins cry out for justice. We have endured atrocities for too long, hoping things would change. They have not. The time for denial and silence is over. Please talk about it until the world knows."

South Africa's Freedom Fighters EFF Condemn US Airstrikes In Nigeria, Warn Of Rising American Militarism In Africa

South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) group has sharply condemned United States airstrikes carried out in Nigeria on Christmas Day, describing them as an act of “military imperialism” and a dangerous violation of African sovereignty.

In a statement released on Friday, the EFF criticised the US government for launching airstrikes in northwest Nigeria, reportedly in Sokoto State, which US President Donald Trump publicly hailed as “powerful and deadly” attacks against what he described as Islamic State (ISIL) targets.

“The Economic Freedom Fighters condemns the United States of America's airstrikes carried out on Nigerian soil on 25 December 2025,” the party said, adding that the strikes represent “a reckless disregard for African sovereignty” and a “dangerous escalation of American military imperialism on the African continent.”

The EFF took particular issue with President Trump’s framing of the attacks, accusing him of using “highly inflammatory and religiously charged language” to justify the intervention.

According to the statement, Trump portrayed the United States as a “self-appointed saviour” by claiming that Christians were being “viciously killed” in northern Nigeria.

“This narrative did not emerge in a vacuum,” the EFF said.

“For weeks leading up to these strikes, Western political figures and media outlets have deliberately overhyped and distorted reports of violence in northern Nigeria, reducing a complex crisis into a simplistic and dangerous story of ‘Christian killings by Muslims.’”

The party argued that violence in northern Nigeria is driven by a mix of poverty, criminal banditry, insurgent groups and state failure, affecting “Christians, Muslims, and traditional communities alike.”

“By selectively amplifying a religious narrative, the United States manufactured moral justification for military intervention,” the statement said, accusing Washington of turning “Nigerian suffering into propaganda for imperial violence.”

The EFF also criticised the repeated use of the “ISIL-linked” label, saying it has historically been deployed to legitimise U.S. military action across the Middle East and Africa.

“Once a territory is branded ‘ISIL-linked,’ it becomes open season for American missiles, drones, and airstrikes, with no meaningful accountability,” the party said, warning that the same “script” used in other regions is now being applied in West Africa.

Equally scathing was the EFF’s assessment of Nigeria’s response to the strikes. The party described a statement by Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs praising U.S.–Nigeria “security cooperation” as a form of capitulation.

“This response does not reflect a confident or independent state,” the EFF said. “It signals to the world that African governments can be pressured, persuaded, or politically cornered into legitimising foreign military action on their own soil.”

The party warned Nigeria against allowing the U.S. to operate militarily within its borders, arguing that American interventions are never mutually beneficial.

“We warn the government of Nigeria that the USA has no history of making any military, economic or diplomatic interventions in any nation which are mutually beneficial,” the statement said, claiming U.S. involvement is always aimed at “imperialist and selfish ends,” including access to natural resources such as oil.

Drawing parallels with Venezuela, the EFF alleged that Washington uses counter-terrorism and anti-crime narratives to advance economic interests.

“Today in Nigeria, the USA is engaging in maximising oil extraction related interests under the guise of fighting terrorism,” the party said.

The EFF framed the airstrikes as a broader warning to the continent, accusing the Trump administration of being prepared to “impose its military and imperialist strength wherever it sees fit.”

“Africa is in grave danger,” the statement said, describing Trump as “blood thirsty” and “war mongering,” and linking U.S. actions in Nigeria to what it called Washington’s growing hostility toward South Africa over its stance on Palestine.

“It is of interest to all of us as Africans to not allow Nigeria to be the gateway for USA imperialism in Africa,” the party warned.

Concluding its statement, the EFF expressed solidarity with ordinary Nigerians and called on continental bodies to intervene.

“The EFF stands firmly with the people of Nigeria, not with imperial forces and not with compliant elites,” it said. “If Africa does not resist now, it will once again become a battlefield for foreign powers seeking relevance through destruction.”
