You Can Hate The Government, But Never Hate Your Country by BuharisBoy(op): 3:28pm On Nov 02, 2025
No matter your grievances with the current government, it is both unwise and dishonourable to applaud anyone who brands your country a disgrace. Governments are temporary; they are made up of individuals who come and go, often leaving mixed legacies. But the nation itself — its people, its culture, its history, and its destiny — remains. It is the one thing that belongs to all of us, collectively and permanently. To cheer when outsiders insult it is to wound your own identity and dignity.

When a foreign leader, no matter how powerful, labels Nigeria in demeaning terms, it should not spark laughter or applause. It should stir sober reflection and a renewed determination to correct our faults from within, not an invitation for others to look down on us. Nations rise and fall on the strength of their unity, self-respect, and moral confidence. When citizens themselves begin to echo or endorse foreign contempt, they weaken the very foundation upon which national progress must be built.

The idea of a foreign power invading or interfering in Nigeria under any pretext is deeply abhorrent. No true patriot should ever wish for that. History has shown that no external intervention ever comes without a cost — political, cultural, or economic. Those who come claiming to “save” us often end up exploiting us. Nigeria has its flaws, yes, but the duty to correct them rests first and foremost with Nigerians.

If there is any value in Donald Trump’s outburst, it is that it should jolt our leaders into recognizing how critical our national security has become. It should serve as a wake-up call, not an endorsement of foreign aggression. Let it remind our policymakers that the safety, unity, and dignity of this nation must never be compromised.

Criticism can be useful when it provokes change, but insults from outsiders should never be celebrated. We must separate dissatisfaction with leadership from disrespect for the homeland. Governments will pass; new ones will rise. But the nation — our collective identity — must be preserved, honoured, and defended at all costs. That is where true patriotism begins and where it must never end.

I am really curious as to how the 'invasion' will play out. Are they coming to fight all the Muslims here? Are they coming to remove Tinubu and install their favorite? If they fight the terrorist in the bush will it not attract more and more of their kind? How long will the invasion last? Post invasion will we finally be rid of the terrorists like Afghanistan and Iraq?

Have you lost any member of your family due to government’s negligence and playing politics with human lives ?

If not, please kindly shut up your mouth…

People are dying in numbers and you are here talking about patriotism.. Patriotism is for the living, not for the dead ..
Human life Ist before any other thing.. Go and rest !

The history books can answer all the question you asked. You just need to learn from 2-3 events and you will have an idea what could happen.

You will know the true meaning of “US military intervention “

Just take your time and revisit history.

Our own is Tinubu must launch an offensive against the Fulani militia killing Nigerians

Nothing unusual will happen.
If Tinubu doesn't stop the unnecessary killing of Christians, TRUMP will help him
And if Tinubu tries to stop the invasion, he'd be removed.
It is something he can do but chose not to protect the people being killed

APC databoys have suddenly become "unity preachers". The same Ronukus that don't care what others think about Nigeria.

The first constitutional duty of a government is to protect life and prooerties of the citizens irrespective of religious, political, ethnic affiliation.
How would you rate our government?
Its obvious that the government is incapable of performing uts duties.
Is it not disgraceful for government to have a peace talk with terrorists and brandishing weapons in the presence of our gallant officers?
Is it not disgraceful that we have government and terrorists are collecting taxes?
Is it not disgraceful for the government to enlist the so called repentant terrorists into our security formations?

We didn't see you preach the same when Buhari, Tinubu, and Lai mohammed were blocking every good move GEJ was making to fight Boko Haram and protect the country..

When you APC elemenys were jumping on Obama's phallus and supporting him to block every GEJ move to fix and defend the country, I guess you never thought it would be your turn someday right?.. grin

The Nigerian opposition has the right to move in for the kill, support the pouring of hot coals on Tinubu's head and cut a deal with Trump. Tinubu the political wolf we know, would do the same if he were in the opposition..

You APC-esque bitter politics in 2014 has come back to haunt you. Stop crying and enjoy the show. grin

Even they have surpassed the known motivational speakers since yesterday.
