Very commendable effort by the LGA. It should extend equivalent gesture to assist those youths in formal education too.

I know many ignorant people and lazy poorly educated youths with entitlement mentality will not know the practical utility value of this to youths who eke out a living from selling water or traveling far to get water for their animals and farm. Smh.

Btw,this is by far better than ortomatic hoes and cutlass given by a whole Benue State Government o.

The problem I see here is the PR. How much is water carts that you need to organize a fanfare like this. As for empowering people with a source of livelihood, I see no wrong here. Just because someone is a cart pusher or porter doesn't mean he wouldn't go to school. A cart pusher in a good location can fetch more than the 70k minimum wage that many struggle to get. Better to be a menial worker than to be a criminal element.

The people here aren't youths but young adults that wants to earn a livelihood for themselves. This is better than kidnapping, banditry, drugs etc.
All these empowerment from my experience are what the people wants and usually localised!
These tools will be helpful in agriculture irrigation, household water needs and so on!
