Steel ministry sends over 20 officers for hands-on training at ANRML facility in Kaduna

Over 20 staff of the Metallurgical Inspectorate and Environmental protection (MI&EP) department of the Ministry of Steel Development will be undergoing a technical training at the African Natural Resources ans Mines Limited (ANRML), GUJENI KADUNA state from 4th to 6th November 2025.

The officers from the Metallurgical Inspectorate and Environmental protection (MI& EP ) Department will also be part of the capacity building programme for regulatory officers at Mining ore plant in GUJENI.

The training at the African Natural Resources and Mines Limited Gujeni plant,a group company of African Industries Group (AIG) is part of efforts of the the Ministry of Steel to enhance the technical competence of it's officers in the mineral and Metallurgical processing technique.

The Ministry in a letter to ANRML signed by Director, Metallurgical Inspectorate and Environmental Protection Engr.Fredrick E. Ewa, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary noted that it recognises the company's outstanding contribution to the development of the mineral processing and steel development sector and consider it's facility the best for the exercise.

The capacity building programme is expected to comprise both theoretical and practical sessions which will focus on the processing techniques, technologies and operational procedures across various departments and sections of the plant.

The African Natural Resources and Mines Limited pioneers eco-friendly iron ore mining in Kaduna state boasting a fully heat recovery technology.

The plant is focused on mining the abundant iron-ore available within it's mines , which is then transformed into high grade Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) through the processes of beneficiating and pelletizing in the state-of-the-art machinery. The DRI is used as a raw material for producing steel in Nigeria.

African Natural Resources and Mines Limited Gujeni, a group company of African Industries Group (AIG) is the largest non-oil Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Nigeria, valued at over $600 million.

ANRML's $600 million investment in its integrated steel plant is widely recognised and commended by the Nigerian government as the country's largest non-oil FDI. This significant investment is a cornerstone of the government's efforts to diversify the economy beyond oil and gas, boost the solid minerals sector, and position Nigeria as a prominent global crude steel producer. The facility supports the "Renewed Hope Agenda" of the current administration, which aims to grow the national economy to over a trillion dollars by 2030.

Nice initiative, but hope the chosen people will use the knowledge well and get more establishment/ factories in the same line working.
We have lots of natural resources and we really need to start using most of them.

Moreover, every single second in which this devout and pious muzlim imam walks free, it legitimizes their tendencies to carry out the obligations of their ideologies without consequences

Is it a crime to to be paid allowances? If you were there, won't you collect?

By the way, that plant isn't eco-friendly evident by the black solid particles hanging around its atmosphere. Yes, the plant is a good progress in terms of Nigeria's steel development but let the ministry address the air pollution issue

Their job is more than Ajaokuta. We have mining operations and other privately held mills and foundries working.
