Mine works. If you check under the ZTE IDU router, you will see the IP address there.

I like how the external Sim is working.

Those routers were originally made to use physical sim. Na Airtel wan use am do restriction.

The reason I suggested band lock is because, since yesterday that I started trying the locking stuff, I have been experimenting and all the better cells in my router are on the same band.
From your tests, what 4G band achieves the best speed consistently?

The esim with Airtel is highly flawed, from the activation to occasional network loss. When the esim was still working, I'd get "no Internet" out from no where, but when I put the physical sim innit, it works very well.

I pity those who have this issue but don't have the physical sim to make up for it as you'll now have to wait for hours before the esim comes back online.

Will keep trying with the band/cell Lock thing. Maybe there's just something I'm missing.

Band 8. But I suppose it should be location dependent.

I faced similar issues on my ZTE ODU when I got it last week, after it was installed, it connected without internet access, the installer had to restart it for it to connect, then after that it went off again after the installer had already gone, so I called him and he told me to restart the device again, I did that all through that day but it still refused to connect on checking the ODU dashboard, I noticed the Sim number showing there is totally different from the one I registered.

So I contacted the Airtel Office, they initially said the fault was from the installer that he might have installed someone else device, until I proved otherwise by showing the device IMEI which matches what I snapped at the office after payment. So they said the error might be that the device was initially registered for someone else but didn't go through, before they used same device to register for me, so the number is clashing.

I requested for my registered line to be converted to a physical Sim, since I saw it was active and tied to my Airtel account on the app, but to my greatest surprise, they said it doesn't support physical Sim. I just laughed it off, and took pictures of the Sim slot and sent to them, but they now said it may not work. I literally had to snap the pages on their manual that indicated it works with both eSIM and physical Sim, and the use of physical overrides the eSIM functional which makes the device make use of the physical Sim directly.

I had to further prove it to them by inserting my previous Airtel 20mbps unlimited Sim in it and told them that it works. They now called me the next day to speak on a conference call with their supervisor to explain my case with him, after a few hours later, they told me to go back to the office and try to get the physical Sim, but on reaching there they said NIMC portal was down. So I opted for a roadside SIM swap of the eSIM since it was weekend and I didn't want to wait to come back on Monday.

The Sim swap was successful and I have now installed the physical Sim into the Sim slot and it is working fine now without any issues or interruptions.

If you have eSIM registered for you already, just make sure first that the eSIM number issued to you is active, then take that number to any Airtel outlet and request for a SIM swap. Most Airtel staffs are not aware of this simple solution.

Anyone else having network inconsistency?

I get 40Mbps and then it jumps to 5Mbps and sometimes even 700Kbps and then settles at 30 or 20 Mbps. This has affected streaming massively as it buffers alot. This has been happening over the past few days.

Prior to this, I was getting consistent 50+ Mbps even during evening hours when the network usually goes kinda bad.
I observed this for a long now it really messed up my streaming experience

They say "if you know how 'average' your supposed role models are compared to you..." grin

Sometimes I marvel at the corporate incompetence in this country eh. At banks, Immigration, ISPs, etc., there is no shortage of highly incompetent folks doing jobs they know very little about with closed-mindedness.

There is too much anyhowness in the land. But we pray and hope for the best. E go better.

So I have the esim number with me but it looks like it isn't active at the moment.

Will a sim swap be possible?
How much did the sim swap cost you?

Do you use an Airtel line? Does it browse fast on normal data?
If no, then they probably have terrible network in that area.
I don't currently have any normal data plan

Modified I just did a normal subscription and the network is bad also. I think it's just a bad network in my locality. Make I find way call them

So the agents in that place decided to add extra money for themselves.

Na wa o.

Meanwhile, if it is ZTE, you now have enough info, so you should quickly swap the sim to physical one and use away.

Has anyone done the same with the ZLT version that comes with eSIM? I would like to know if it is as seamless as the ZTE. I know ZLTs have their sim ports screwed with allen keys.

Someone I know is having the problem of always restarting their device to get network back whenever it goes off.
That is, there will be network but not browsing until they restart.

What is the solution to this? It's the ZLT version with black IDU.

If you use MyAirtel app, check if the eSIM number has been added to your account first. If yes, you can proceed to do a Sim swap at any Airtel outlet to get a physical Sim. I paid 2k for mine.

This issue is common with people using just the eSIM activated, he should get a physical Sim and insert in the Sim slot and use.

I use the ZTE ODU model with an eSIM and it has been working seamlessly so far. It's even mounted indoors behind my TV set and I hv no downtime or rebooting issues.

I hv already booked for the ZLT white version. I prefer it because of its external antennae and it's USB port. That was what attracted me to the new ODU when it first launched.

The only issue was the delay I experienced before it was delivered. It took about 2 weeks or there about before i got it. The reason given was network issue at the airtel office.

I am the same position as you narrated waiting for resolution from their HQ. God bless you for this pointer as my ODU too is zte.
The package that was brought to me have my number and name written on the carton but on ODU IU carries a name Joshua while mine was registered Bukola and I have different proofs to them but yet to resolve the swap.

My registered esim number is active with a bundle on my Airtel app, so I guess I will try the road side swap method.
Please, how much is the sim swap and what other requirements for the process?

The thing is, there's no Airtel base station anywhere close to my estate. So, I just told the installer to mount it on my face board and point it towards an open area. The performance hasn't been great. Sometimes, even with full 5G and 4G signal strength, it refuses to browse and would have to restart it and tinker with severally before it starts browsing.

I will try the cell locking thing to see if it helps.
I don't think this refuse to browse is a position problem (network).

I think it's directly from Airtel. For example, I have been enjoying my ODU for a month plus but from last Saturday till this very moment, it's been a nightmare.

I even called them and they said it's been fixed but here we are.

This is strictly for the ZTE ODU users, you can use the ZTE Smart Life App to monitor your device and perform some settings.
Clean!! I created something like this for MTN devices. If anyone is interested, it called Mi MDev. Check it out on play store.
