seunowa:We know all of this. Regardless, let them come. Nigeria is already a disgraced country. We need a reset—either through guns or otherwise. Fulani herdsmen are everywhere killing people at will. We need a way out of this mess. However the solution comes does not matter. |

Unarguable facts about the Nigeria situation 1. There is extreme insecurity going on in Nigeria 2. A major part of these insecurity is the activities of Islamic terrorists who are now operating on the guise of herdsmen 3. Christians are the target, although not only the ones affected 4. The Nigeria Army has been infiltrated and have lost the will to fight these terrorists 5. The Nigeria govt does not care about putting an end to this genocide 6. Nigeria needs immediate intervention cause the govt is complicit 7. America has to step in |

Nigerians deserve their leaders, giant of africa that needs outsiders to come and rescue them.....Bunch of online noisemakers. Here's the reality, the U.S govt is currently shutdown, it will take at least a year before they can pass any budget for a military strike. Republicans will lose the midterm elections and Trump won't receive approval for any military intervention in 9ja. 90% of y'all are clueless on how the U.S govt works, Congress will never approve military intervention in 9ja, NEVER! |

Brendaniel:First of all for some context, Liberia was founded in the 19th century by freed African-Americans under the auspices of the American Colonization Society. The Americans has vested interest in the country from the get go. Secondly, Over the decades, Liberia maintained a special relationship with the U.S., including military training, economic assistance, and strategic cooperation. It wasn't like the US just showed up, they were always there. Thirdly during the first civil war in Liberia, the U.S. did not militarily intervene to remove Doe, nor did it deploy large-scale combat troops to restore order. Instead, its involvement was more limited: evacuation of U.S. citizens, diplomatic engagement, encouragement of mediation, etc. Lastly, in answer to your question, the war in Liberia did not end solely as a result of direct large-scale intervention by the United States government. Instead, its conclusion was the product of multilateral efforts — primarily regional, diplomatic and United Nations-driven — combined with U.S. support in certain roles. The United Nations, via United Nations Security Council Resolution 1497 (1 August 2003), authorised a multinational force to support the cease-fire and peace process in Liberia. Regional actors such as Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and regional forces played the lead role in enforcement and peacekeeping. The U.S. was involved, but its involvement was relatively limited, often through evacuation operations, logistical assistance or supporting the broader multinational mission rather than being the primary force ending the war. So using Liberia as a case study is a weak argument, the parameters are different. |

seunowa:You know, a lot of things will have to happen in this life, some will serve as an example while others will be a lesson. The foolish ones among us can only reason by what their masters say. If America were a saviour, the world should have been a better place, but let their soldiers come first. I believe the story will change eventually |

America was pivotal in Liberia, others were just support systems. If it worked in Liberia, it will work in Nigeria. America is Welcome. gabicon: |

AstroHenri:Let them take the oil na, as long as they will stop the killings, let it now be that they did not stop the killings then they just waged war with the whole country including the terrorists they claimed to come and fight... Is the oil more important than the lives of Nigerians? Look at the way you people reason, you people that are opposing U.S intervention have not offered any solution to stopping the killings, and your government isn't really doing anything, so people should keep dying because you want to protect oil? The same oil that your government is using to punish its own citizens, well just so you know if the U.S eventually comes and they keep to their word in fighting terrorists and the Nigerian government decides to fight them from fighting the terrorists, if I am given only 2 option to take sides, I will take sides with America and fight against the Nigerian government because I believe I am doing the right thing... The genocide should stop. |
