Meeks, Jacobs Condemn Trump’s Threat of Aid Cuts and Military Action in Nigeria

Representatives Gregory W. Meeks, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Sara Jacobs, Ranking Member of the Africa Subcommittee, today released the following statement in response to President Trump’s threat to cut off all assistance to Nigeria and prepare for possible U.S. military intervention:

“The Trump administration’s designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern ignores the complex reality of violence there. Clashes between farmers, many but not all of whom are Christian, and herders are driven by resource scarcity and land competition, not religion alone. Terrorist groups have killed both Christians and Muslims, and devastated communities—especially in the predominantly Muslim north which is increasingly plagued by violent criminal gangs often referred to as bandits. All Nigerians deserve protection, and we know President Tinubu recognizes the importance of interfaith harmony and is working to address this challenge.

“It is incredibly irresponsible of President Trump to threaten military action. Providing security support is one thing; threatening military intervention to ‘defend Christians’ is a reckless response to distorted facts which risks embroiling the United States in another war. And Trump’s aid cuts have blocked much-needed emergency nutrition and livelihoods training—the very types of programs essential to stopping the spread of insurgency.”

Trump no send anybody. Just an order and the terrorists in Nigeria are annihilated.

Instead of APC to concentrate on wiping out terrorism and killings they're running around like headless chickens with useless propaganda.

Predictable. Some of us have repeatedly told the self-hating Nigerians, particularly from one region, that the clap back will surely come from Trump's fellow US politicians over his reckless, highly irresponsible and lawless talk

I even cited several instances US judges have stood firm against Trump's lunacy yet the self-haters kept demanding US invasion of Nigeria as if we are an annexed colony of the US that Trump is Emperor over rather than an independent and sovereign nation.

US Congress will never indulge this lunacy of Trump because nothing like "weapons of mass destruction" excuse to use against us and Nigeria is not an "axis of evil" nation, directly threatening USA, Congress may be worried about enough to back military incursion into.

We will let kids and projector people keep dreaming and projecting. They don't understand that reality, not fantasy, is what matters most in life

There is nothing I find as irritating as the insecurity in Nigeria being treated like it's normal globally or impossible to sort out.

Is it when they wipe out an entire town in a single attack, that it would become something of global concern?!!

Even some members of the army have complained that the biggest hindrance to their onslaught against these infidels is the approach of the leaders who rather treat them with diplomacy and kid gloves.

Look at people like Gumi feeling like it's justifiable what terrorists are doing.

We are just playing with innocent lives like they mean nothing.

Some people think everyone is stupid.
The U.S has more than enough evidence and knows more Nigerians welcome the dealing of the murderous Islamic terrorists

It's like Tinubu's corn has crossed the Atlantic ocean and landed on their plates, what gave them up was this:

Clashes between farmers, many but not all of whom are Christian, and herders are driven by resource scarcity and land competition
That has always been the excuse of the APC government to not do anything about the killings going on, they always try to make it look like a 2 fighting issue that does not need intervention, looks like someone was given a script to read with Tinubu's corn in the mouth
