Shettima Departs Abuja For COP30 In Brazil To Represent President Bola Tinubu by peekspot(op): 6:39am On Nov 05, 2025
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Belém, Brazil, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the leaders’ summit ahead of the 30th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30).

The high-level meeting, convened by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in collaboration with global partners, will take place from November 6 to 7 in Belém, the capital of Pará state, located in the Brazilian Amazon.

The main COP30 negotiations, scheduled to be held from November 10 to 11, will bring together heads of state, development partners, and business executives to discuss practical pathways for accelerating global climate action.

This year’s conference, themed ‘Climate action and implementation’, will focus on adaptation, forests, biodiversity, and climate justice

In a statement on Tuesday by Stanley Nkwocha, senior special assistant to the president on media and communications (office of the vice-president), said Shettima is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement during the plenary session.

He will also outline the country’s climate priorities and ongoing efforts to meet its commitments under international climate agreements.

After his engagements in Belém, the vice-president will travel to Brasília for a reciprocal visit to his Brazilian counterpart, Geraldo Alckmin, who paid a three-day working visit to Nigeria earlier in June.

President Tinubu had earlier said Nigeria’s focus ahead of COP30 is to harness climate financing opportunities for climate-resilient projects and related interventions that align with the country’s development goals.

This year’s COP30 taking place in the Amazon — one of the world’s most critical carbon sinks — underscores the urgency of protecting tropical forests and preserving biodiversity as part of the global response to climate change.

We should feel the impact of these summits. Enough of wasting tax payers money on frivolous trips. What happens to press briefing after returning from such conference to make the common man understand what has been achieved.

We should demand accountability from our leaders. Shettima would return and nothing would be said about this trip ever again.

Very wrong

Why is Tinubu Ajala the traveller afraid of going to Brazil for this high profile meeting. Instead he sends Shettima to represent him. Is he afraid of being arrested by the U.S or coup happening if he leaves Nigeria.

There is no peace for the wicked.

I have a question for you.

Why is it that enemies of his homeland are people hating him and accusing him of causing insecurities, but we the people of his homeland love and support him, also know insecurities that happened in our land was done by enemies of Biafra and Igbo land?

Why?

The Lord will richly bless him. He has opened everybody's eyes to the real enemies of IGBOs and their kith and kin.

I am from Akwa Ibom and I Bless Nnamdi Kanu. I curse all those that peddled lies against him.

Everything he said has come to pass. That is a real prophet, not Adeboye that is drinking tea and keeping quiet as Christians are killed.

Long live BIAFRA
Long live Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
Long live all lovers of freedom
The Lord will Bless Donald TRUMP

Isee!!!!!

Is Tinubu scared of travelling these days?

Is it the scare of being toppled by the military? Or is it the scare of America and the international community?
