Ignore the noise from their foot soldiers. The opposition—including their so-called coalition and those who thrive on bad news from insecurity—know full well that their open or tacit support for instability is under scrutiny. Whether it’s the figure who claims a suspected terrorist has no case to answer or those who condemn the government every time terrorists are neutralized, they all understand that their role in fueling insecurity will eventually come to light. That’s why their statements, when they eventually summon up the courage to make a statement, are so carefully worded and ambiguous. Would El-Rufai dare weigh in on such matters when he’s already viewed with suspicion globally? If anything, the federal government could argue that suspicions surrounding El-Rufai were precisely why he wasn’t appointed as a federal minister in the first place. Or Atiku, who deleted his initial tweet condemning the killing of Deborah, the Christian student? And let’s not forget that it was under the watch of Tambuwal, the then-governor of Sokoto State, that Deborah was killed—and the killers were never brought to justice, even though the culprits broadcast the killing with their faces clearly visible. And let’s not forget that Atiku was once suspected of having been detained in Dubai over allegations of terrorism financing. All of these people are the same people forming a coallision to give birth to that they claim will be a new Nigeria. Indeed. Even the "Lamba king," who usually fires off reckless tweets at the first sign of bad news, took two full days to respond this time—and when he finally did, his tone was uncharacteristically measured and restrained. The classification of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) by the U.S. is actually a blessing in disguise. It provides the federal government with the leverage to intensify its fight against the sponsors of insecurity, ensuring that no one can hide behind the pretense of political opposition or persecution. This designation will force a proper reckoning with those who fuel instability, and their actions will now face greater scrutiny. |

Continue to make yourself happy. The United States have all the data that even Nigeria doesn't have. Elrufai was in the US few months ago. He was invited by the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington D.C. to give a lecture on leadership. Tinubu can't even secure a visit to U.S to meet with Trump as a sitting president. The bitter truth is that Tinubu will have benefitted from the vast network and intellect of Elrufai in times like these. Just as he did during his equally arranged visit to Chatham house. All Tinubu has in his corner today are misfits like Reno Omokri, Daniel Bwala and Bayo Onanuga. They are the only ones visibly running from pillar to post with no headway or results.

Speaking out of point is always your specialty, was there anywhere in what you quoted that I said El Rufai cannot visit the US, assuming this your report is true? AMINDA: |

9jatriot:Can someone who you claim is viewed with suspicion globally be invited as a special guest by the top echelon of the United States to deliver a talk on Nigeria's political future? Why has Tinubu been unable to secure a visit to the U.S as a sitting president? Continue to fly your propaganda about Elrufai while he walks free inside and outside of the country. Why hasn't Tinubu persecuted Elrufai since you claim he's guilty? Doesn't this lend credence to the insinuation that the government is culpable? The joke is on you. Ironically, Reno Omokri was outside of the Chatham house protesting against Tinubu for being a drug lord while Elrufai was helping Tinubu to answer a question on insecurity inside. Ingratitude and betrayal is not a virtue.

Your attempt at a straw man fallacy won’t work with me. First, even if your claim about him speaking in the U.S. is true, where did I ever say he can’t visit the U.S.? Arguing that his ability to visit means he isn’t viewed with suspicion is absurd. Second, the claim that Tinubu can’t visit the U.S. is laughable—not only is it false, but a simple Google search disproves it. There are records of his visits to the U.S., both as a sitting president and before taking office. As for why he hasn’t been prosecuted, I used the word "suspicion"—not a conviction. Perhaps you’ll now cry political persecution or claim the opposition is being silenced. Or maybe it’s because of gratitude for his role in Tinubu’s rise, contrary to your baseless claims of ingratitude. I won’t engage further if you continue down this unintelligent path. If I don’t respond again, assume it’s because your arguments aren’t sensible enough to warrant one. AMINDA: |

For Atiku to have deleted and deniing that comment condemning the killing of Deborah is bad. |

Hi AMINDA:The same El Rufai you labelled a terrorist. Now he's a good guy because he's in the opposition against Tinubu |

Imagine the opposition referring back to Southern Kaduna when El Rufai was the governor about the alleged Christian persecution. No be beautiful own goal be that? |

Predictor3:What do you label him as and at what point did he become a terrorist to you? Was it after he worked hard to deliver you tin-god as president or before you betrayed him? Don't forget that this "terrorist" has been DG BPE during Obasanjo (arguably the best ever), Minister of the FCT (arguably the best ever) and governor of Kaduna state for two terms (winning with over a million votes on both occassions and still arguably the best ever). Don't forget that this "terrorist" continues to walk free in and out of the country and his opinions on Nigeria's political future are still being sought by Washington D.C. What manner of terrorist is that? Is he really a terrorist or you gave a dog a bad name in order to hang it? |

No AMINDA:Rantings. Elrufai has never hidden his affinity for the Fulani marauders. You are worshipping him today because he is friends with your god and savior Obi. And you wonder why people call you emergency lovers of Nigeria. |

Hi orisa37:All of this is correct but your principal Tinubu should also sit up and do something about the senseless killings across Nigeria. How can you be the president and you are relaxed under such conditions? Did Tinubu not also hear about the Deborah killing? Why has he not called the IG of police and the court to bring the perpetrators to book? All of them are mad |

What a masterclass in projection. The real question is, who's been secretly meeting with US officials to discuss Nigeria's future? Meanwhile, someone's been busy trying to deflect attention from their own questionable past. |

Predictor3:Answer the question. At what point did Tinubu discover this affinity for fulani marauders? Was it before he begged him on stage to work with him or after he took him to Chatham house and everywhere else during his campaign? Elrufai is fulani but his stance on how to deal with the terrorists have always been clear and well documented. He refused to negotiate with bandits when governors like the current minister of defence were doing so with no success in their states. He rather recommended that the forests be carpet-bombed, damning the consequences. It's no surprise that the current government is now deploying a strategy of negotiating with bandits, applying cosmetic band-aids over cancerous gangrenes for temporary victories. They are surrounded by people who did the same as governors. https://thenationonlineng.net/el-rufais-proposal-on-bombing-bandits-villages/amp/ |
