The Nigeria Customs Service, Port Harcourt Area II Command, Onne, has achieved a historic revenue milestone, generating ₦76,075,447,369.83 in October 2025 — the highest monthly collection in its operational history.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs Theophilus Duniya, and made available to journalists on Monday.

Historic Revenue Through Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

The statement credited the achievement to the strategic leadership of Comptroller Aliyu M. Alkali and enhanced collaboration between the Customs Service and industry stakeholders. It described the feat as “a product of deliberate, transparent engagement and effective trade facilitation.”

“This record-breaking performance is attributed to the deliberate and conscious stakeholder engagement spearheaded by Comptroller Aliyu M. Alkali,” the statement read.

The Customs boss reportedly held continuous dialogues with stakeholders and unit heads, emphasizing the importance of legitimate trade facilitation, compliance, and operational excellence.

Efficient Resource Deployment and Trade Compliance

The statement further highlighted that Comptroller Alkali strategically deployed officers to key operational areas based on performance metrics and trade volume, ensuring optimal resource utilization across departments.

“This proactive approach,” it said, “has enhanced the Command’s capacity to meet and exceed its monthly revenue targets.”

Under his leadership, the Command has strengthened enforcement mechanisms, boosted trade efficiency, and aligned operations with World Customs Organization best practices to ensure compliance with international trade standards.

Comptroller Alkali Commends Officers and Stakeholders

Expressing gratitude to importers, clearing agents, and other port stakeholders, Comptroller Alkali attributed the milestone to teamwork, patriotism, and professionalism among officers and partners within the port ecosystem.

“This milestone is a testament to what we can achieve through effective teamwork and dedication to national development,” he said. “We shall continue to strengthen our systems to sustain this momentum.”

The Onne Customs boss encouraged officers to sustain their renewed zeal, remain transparent, and continue working toward surpassing future targets for Nigeria’s economic growth.

Celebrating custom's revenue in Nigeria is unwise,hope you all know that the import duties this people are paying will be loaded on us the end users?

Wait are we talking about the same Onne port that many companies here in Kano have been bringing there goods through since 2020 because its closer and has less hassles than Lagos port.

One has been functional since time immemorial, if I will be modest with what I can defend, since 2020 immediately after corona.

There are many functioning ports in Nigeria. The problem is that majority of them cannot berth big ships containing many goods which Lagos port enjoy. What is hard to understand
