Tinubu Government Summons All Foreign Diplomats In Abuja Over Trump’s Military Threat

Amid widespread reactions to United States President Donald Trump’s declaration that he may deploy military action to Nigeria, the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government has summoned all foreign diplomats in the country.

The summons was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following Trump’s remarks. It would be recalled that Trump had threatened to cut all aid to Nigeria and deploy U.S. troops if “genocide against Christians” continued unabated.

Last Friday, President Trump announced that, in response to claims of genocide against Christians in Nigeria, he had redesignated the country as a “Country of Particular Concern.”

He made the announcement on his Truth Social media platform, writing: “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

“Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it,” he wrote.

Nigeria, however, denied any genocide against Christians.

President Tinubu reiterated that “Nigeria stands firmly as a democracy governed by constitutional guarantees of religious liberty.”

He noted that since assuming office in 2023, his administration has maintained active engagement with both Christian and Muslim leaders while working to address security challenges affecting citizens regardless of religious affiliation.

“Since 2023, our administration has maintained an open and active engagement with Christian and Muslim leaders alike and continues to address security challenges which affect citizens across faiths and regions,” he stated.

Tinubu dismissed what he described as a mischaracterisation of Nigeria’s religious landscape by external observers, saying such claims fail to reflect the country’s diversity and the government’s ongoing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence.

“The characterisation of Nigeria as religiously intolerant does not reflect our national reality, nor does it take into consideration the consistent and sincere efforts of the government to safeguard freedom of religion and beliefs for all Nigerians,” the President declared.

On Tuesday, China declared its unwavering support for the Nigerian government, saying it stands by Nigeria as it “leads its people on the development path suited to its national conditions.”

This position was announced at a press conference by the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning.

The Chinese minister was quoted by TheCable as saying: “As Nigeria’s comprehensive strategic partner, China firmly opposes any country using religion and human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs, and threatening other countries with sanctions and force.”

Ning was responding to a question on U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of military action in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.

The European Union (EU) also restated its solidarity with Nigeria, declaring full respect for the country’s sovereignty and reaffirming its commitment to strengthen cooperation in peacebuilding, interfaith dialogue, and human rights protection.

The EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr. Gautier Mignot, made the remarks during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos, while reacting to Trump’s comments threatening possible military action against Nigeria.

Mignot stressed that the EU’s position was guided by “long-standing partnership and shared values” with Nigeria, not external influence.

“Our position is one of solidarity with Nigeria. Solidarity with the victims of violence, with the authorities working to protect citizens, and with the Nigerian people who overwhelmingly desire peaceful coexistence beyond ethnic and religious divides.

“We respect Nigeria’s sovereignty and constitutional commitment to religious neutrality,” he said.

When is DT’s boom shakala boom happening because I hear there are large movements of armed gangs on motorbikes moving to some countries
Re: Tinubu Government Summons All Foreign Diplomats In Abuja Over Trump’s Threat by Ttalk:
It is not enough to surmon foreign diplomats. What is required of you is to sincerely admit the near impossibility of Nigeria on its own strength to end insurgency in Nigeria.

Next is to handle the list of indicted terrorist and their sponsors without leaning towards political consideration for party men. We want to see the DSS report that stopped ElRufai becoming a Minster under your government.

Since you are bold enough to end the fuel subsidy and dare the consequence from the oil cabal and the masses, it will be very disappointing if you won't use the opportunity presented by Trump statement to expose these terrorist and their the consequence

Now to the fellow Southerner who are going about on SM parroting the narrative and propaganda from the North, shame on you all.

I have never seen any northerner support IPOB or Igboho, rather there was swift and aggressive clamped down on these groups but today many of you are reeling out conspiracy theories that make Karl Marx look like an illiterate. Go ahead and allow the north to continue to think for you, use your head and make you fight each other.

You all should be ashamed that the north you claim are illiterate are shaping your opinion and manipulation you.

Southern politicians and elites are a disgrace, regardless of region and religion.

Shame

That does not send a message to the US.

Just shutdown Chevron, Exxon, Haliburton and Baker Hughes and you will see them begging for pardon.

Tinubu has handled security with levity

What is the difference with being at war

If he could declare state of emergency in RIvers why not in Benue , Zamfara or Katsina?

He needs to
Remove Nuhu Ribadu
Enforce grazing laws
Ban open grazing
Declare state of emergency in several NW states , close the border in those states
Ban motorcycles
Move towards enforcement of cashless policy
Get external help

You really are very naive

In which banks do you think your so called reserves are.?

Many people do not understand the world's financial system and the power of the dollar

America can stop a country selling oil
They force you to sell oil in dollars and keep those dollars in their banks

Before you stand up to them you need to figure out how to escape that bind

They will just terrorize the country with all sought of sanctions and propaganda. That’s when they will start saying Nigeria has weapon of mass destruction or we need a newer democracy. 😂😂😂

Do your job!
Oga, just do your job and stop complaining..
We have the Police, we have the Army, we have the Airforce, we have the Navy, we have the Civil Defence, we have the Road Safety, we have the Customs Service, we have the Immigration personnels.... All are uniformed men at the services of any sitting commander in chief. More than half a million uniformed men at Escobas beck and call. Yet nothing is happening ..

Tinubu should be told to respect human lives. Rather than shivering about the threats from the US, Tinubu should do his job and eliminate the terrorists so these threats will end. The State Intelligence Agencies know the hide outs of these criminals. Let him send the army to the jungles of Zamfaara and Katsina to uproot these killers the same way he did to "Gentle the Yahoo" in Okigwe. This cho cho cho should not be for a Commander in Chief. Leave it for comedians.

Oga, stufdwn up amd do your job! Save lives..

Life is not about emotion

It is very important to study history

Many Nigerians have no clue about the history of the Ottoman Empire, the fact that Arabs traded black people for over 1000 years and bought more than were taken to the Americas. Where are the blacks in the Arab countries today compared to Brazil, USA Colombia etc?
We don't know and are blissfully ignorant that they were systematically castrated for centuries yet we continue to go there on Hajj. That is why they are contemptuous of us

We need to study the history of China and the century of humiliation and how they got to where they are now

When you are weak no need barking like a chihuahua rather make a plan

We can never make any plan as long as we are yoked with Islamic North

Go and spend 24hours studying the Ottoman Empire and what it did in North Africa and to black people in general

At some point if you wake up you will realise why the worst things that happened to Black People are Islam and Christianity

Instead of calling on the military and DSS to step up or be sent home, he's summoning diplomats

Summon the service chiefs immediately, give them 48hrs order to annihilate the illiterate terrorists and fish out there sponsors or be sent home.

Block the borders that this terrorists come in from forever.

That's what a responsible leader would do and not just summoning diplomats that won't fight the terrorists for you.

Na the diplomats wan fight terrorists for you or the service chiefs ..

Tinubu is clueless

The most important and highest priority of any government is to secure lives and properties of the citizens

That’s the most important thing expected

Trump is not sending soldiers to bomb indiscriminately in Nigeria.

Those supporting Bandits, Boko haram and armed Fulani herdsmen should be apprehensive.
To be fearful also are those who pretend they don't understand that cattle is reared in enclosed farms these days for best profit margin, not through Cattle rearers wandering around in people's farms and on public roads. Armed Fulani herdsmen and their accomplices in government should also be apprehensive.

These are guys are not serious.

What is needed is military action against the jihadist by his service chiefs, the diplomatic options can come later.

Unfortunately Tinubu has never worked through any issue, he always attempts to bribe or circumvent around issues instead of addressing them

Tinubu will prefer to negotiate and sign over oil and mine field to US rather than stopping the killings

And establish state police.
I do not agree with state police AT A TIME OF CRISIS
When the crisis ends we need to sit down and negotiate whether to stay together
Part of the crisis is Sharia law. If that is not removed we should not pretend we have a country because state police will become Sharia police

We should fix and expand the federal police to make them more professional
Decentralisation does not have to mean state police we can have a police force with an IG for the geopolitical zones
And a Mobil police for emergency for the whole country
Currently the Nigerian police are not trained poorly paid undisciplined and even criminal. State police will not fix that
