Nigeria Secures $500 Million World Bank Loan To Boost Agricultural Value Chains by AGCNewsNet(op): 3:10pm On Nov 06, 2025
The Federal Government of Nigeria has secured a $500 million loan from the World Bank to accelerate growth across the country’s agricultural value chains, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on food security and rural industrialisation, according to a government statement on Tuesday.

The Head of the Department of Information at the Ministry of Agriculture, Ezeaja Ikemefuna, said in the statement that the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, announced the facility during a meeting with a World Bank delegation led by Hardwick Ichale, head of the Agriculture Value Chains for Growth (AGROW) Project, at the ministry in Abuja.

Kyari said the loan would catalyse growth in Nigeria’s agricultural ecosystem and help bridge long-standing gaps in smallholder farming by improving connectivity across production, processing, and marketing systems.

“The World Bank’s support will strengthen our agricultural base by improving connectivity across production, processing, and marketing systems. This is about turning smallholder farming into profitable, sustainable agribusiness,” Kyari said, according to the statement.https://www.agcnewsnet.com/article/6533
