It is important that anyone with a case in court learns from what is about to befall Kanu. The arrogance, stupidity, and futility of sacking one's lawyers in order to represent oneself in court will become evident when Kanu's very long jail sentence is handed down by the presiding judge.

The punishment that Kanu will endure as a direct result of his screaming personal insults at the presiding judge, while also DARING the judge to jail him, will be a far longer term of imprisonment than would have been handed down IF ONLY Kanu had taken a calmer, repectful, and less confrontational attitude.

In short, Kanu's fate is sealed with all these outbursts in court. This man will soon be silenced and forgotten in jail, where he can shout and scream as loud as he likes until he runs out of willpower to continue that pointless waste of energy.
So the federal government ran around all these years, flouting court orders, detaining and rearresting Kanu just to sentence him for Outburst?

So much energy to convict one man on terrorism charges while terrorists and bandits roam the country with arms without being checked or stopped.

Very funny country.

The Yorubas will be making a lifetime mistake if a Yoruba President and a Yoruba Judge convicts Kanu, an Igbo freedom fighter who was kidnapped in Kenya and illegally renditioned back to Nigeria by a bias ex Fulani President.

Go and check what Pontius Pilate did when the case of Jesus Christ was brought to him, he washed off his hands and that of his unborn kids.

We are watching, eyes are watching. I know you guys always believe that Igbos cannot do anything and that nothing will happen, it's alright

"I am so sorry" is a unique statement that solves alot of problems, even if not totally.
I'm sure his family must have missed him. His wife, children and other family members.

I am sure he misses his family too and regret most of his actions by now.
Freedom is priceless.

Dont let people online push you more than you should go. Family is everything.

“SHOW ME THE LAW — THEN I WILL DEFEND MYSELF.” — KANU STANDS HIS GROUND IN COURT

It was a charged morning at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu walked in, calm but determined.
No lawyers beside him — he chose to speak for himself.

The courtroom was packed. Some people stood.
Everyone knew today would be intense.

KANU’S FIRST WORDS

He rose, looked directly at the judge, and said:

> “My Lord, there is no charge against me. Not one.
This court has no jurisdiction.”

His voice was steady.
No fear.
Just clarity.

He asked the court to rule on this immediately.

JUDGE SAYS ‘NOT NOW’

Justice Omotosho told him that the court would take his motion “at the proper stage.”

Kanu didn’t back down.

> “Jurisdiction comes first.
If there is no valid charge, there is no further stage.”

Murmurs in the gallery.
People leaned forward.

HE READS THE SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT ALOUD

Kanu opened a folder —
Inside was the December 15, 2023 Supreme Court decision.

He read a paragraph that said the charge used against him “does not exist in Nigerian law”
and must be amended.

He then looked straight at the government lawyers:

> “You were told to amend it.
You refused.
You forced me to plead to a charge that DOES NOT EXIST.”

You could feel the tension.
Even the air felt heavy.

THE CHALLENGE THAT SILENCED THE PROSECUTION

Kanu turned to the lead prosecutor, Senior Advocate Awomolo.

> “Learned Silk, please tell this court:
Name the law I have broken.”

Awomolo shuffled his papers.
He said nothing.

Kanu repeated:

> “Just one law.
The name.
The section.
The statute.
I am waiting.”

Still —
Silence.

Even people sitting at the back could sense the discomfort.

SECTION 36(12) — KANU’S KEY ARGUMENT

Kanu reminded the court:

> “Our constitution says no person can be tried for an offence not written in a law.
No written law = no offence.
No offence = no trial.”

The judge disagreed.
He said that rule only matters at the end — at conviction.

Kanu replied immediately, almost before the judge finished:

> “If the law is dead, the trial cannot start.
It is void from the beginning.”

Heads turned.
Some nodded.

HISTORIC CASE LAW

He quoted an old British case, Entick v. Carrington (1765):

> “If it is not in the law books, it is not law.”

He said the judge must take official notice that the laws used against him were repealed.

The judge said nothing.

“I WILL DEFEND MYSELF NOW — IF YOU SHOW ME THE LAW.”

At this point, the judge asked:

> “Are you ready to open your defence?”

Without hesitation, Kanu answered:

> “I will open my defence right now —
this minute —
if you show me the law I have broken.”

The room went silent.

PROSECUTION TRIES TO PUSH — AND FAILS

Awomolo SAN tried to speak:

> “He is wasting the time of the court.”

Kanu turned toward him:

> “I am wasting time?
Show me the law.
If you show it, I will go to the dock immediately.”

Awomolo sat down.
He had no response.

Someone in the gallery whispered:
“Checkmate.”

KANU: ‘THIS IS PERSECUTION’

Before the session ended, Kanu said quietly but firmly:

> “When a court refuses to acknowledge the law,
refuses to obey the Supreme Court,
and insists on trial with no charge —
that is not justice.
It is persecution.”

No one challenged him.

You could hear the emotion in his voice —
not fear,
not anger,
but exhaustion…
and conviction.

ADJOURNED

The judge adjourned the case to
Wednesday, November 5, 2025
for Kanu to “open his defence or waive it.”

Kanu maintained one final sentence:

> “No law, no trial.”

THE HEART OF THE MATTER

The laws used to charge him were repealed.
The Supreme Court ordered government lawyers to amend the charges —
but they never did.

So today, Kanu stands in court, essentially asking:

> “Why am I still here?”

No one has answered.

THE PUBLIC QUESTION

If the highest court in the land said the law is dead…
If the constitution says you cannot be tried without a written law…
If even the prosecutors cannot name the law he broke…

Then why is he still in detention?

That is the question hanging in the air unanswered.

Coppied
Thanks

Seriously, this country is a joke.

Kanu does not know the workings of the law. Choosing to represent himself would easily put him away.

He would be gone for long. Awomolo SAN did not even argue with him. He knows that Kanu has lost it and he would be jailed for life.

His lawyers advised him on this last desperate strategy to fire them and go with this ret@rded argument of the charges being repealed.

His legal team attempted a no case submission as defense to which Justice Omotosho denied them and said they must put in a defense.

Knowing they have no way to defend or dispute the allegations, they then brought up Kanu's faux health to delay the case.

After that Kanu sacked them and said he will defend himself and that he needed 90days to respond to charges he now say are non existing in law. He even drew up a list of high profile witnesses.

The judge agreed with the prosecution that 90days was too much and that most of the people he said he wanted as compellable witnesses were irrelevant in his case and that he should stick to defending himself

Its at this time he then insisted the charges were all fake and not included in the statute books and that he won't enter a defense.

All these are what his now purported sacked lawyers who still appear in court as ''consultants'' advised Kanu to do because they knew they as lawyers will be heavily reprimanded by the judge if they insisted on a no case submission after being overruled .

Also note that one of his lawyers even took to the streets to protest for his release despite the case still not concluded.

Well, its only his gullible followers and supporters that think there is some legal brilliance in all this madness on display.

What you said would have made sense in a "sane" country, where justice and equity rule, not in a lawless zoo. MNK knew that his trial is a mere formality, lawyers or no lawyers.

On the day Judgment is delivered in the case your eyes will open. Absurd arguments are what you folks and your leader Kanu are making. Deception has you folks in its firm grip. It is a deadly cocktail you folks are mixing and getting ready to drink. Did you expect Chief Awomolo SAN to trade words with Nnamdi Kanu who is now clearly lunatic. He will tell his story before the Court of Appeal after Justice Omotoso has delivered his judgment.

What a contemptuous display. The court is even being too lenient with you. As for whether you will be convicted, I don't see why you shouldn't be. The prosecution established a strong case against you, and still you refused to enter a defence. You are as good as convicted. The law is clear.
