Again, I'm going to place this here for lack of a proper section. Nairalanders, make I share my latest experience with Aba Power. E go shock you. Remember all those complaints about estimated billing? The N88,000 bills for darkness? Well, Aba Power finally brought us the promised "solution" – prepaid meters. But instead of salvation, na another level of suffering we see. Here is the gist: My house get six flats. Aba Power come install only THREE meters. Their reason? According to their system, our house get three billing accounts. So now, two different families with different lifestyles must share one meter. How I go control my neighbor wey dey use AC like say na free while I dey manage my bulb? Na to dey fight every day. The Biggest Crime: 70% Automatic Deduction for "Arrears": This one go wound you. When I recharge N10,000, instead to see units for the whole money, the meter go just swallow about N7,500 for "old arrears" from those useless estimated bills. The remaining N2,500 is wetin I get to buy actual light. So to buy N7,500 light, I must recharge N30,000! Is that not pure robbery? They are forcing me to pay for darkness we never enjoyed. When I go their office complain, the Feeder Manager just tell me to "come back later" apply for more meters. No guarantee, no timeline. Meanwhile, the 70% deduction dey continue. This na new strategy to collect money by force. The meter no be for transparency again; na for debt collection. They are using the new system to legitimize their old fraud. Abi wetin you think? Is this happening for your area too? Make we talk am. Make we trend this matter. @NERCng, make una see wetin dey happen. This is not just Aba Power problem; na sample of how other DisCos go take use prepaid meters cheat us all. My Demand: * One flat, one meter. * They must cancel all these yeye arrears from estimated billing. * NERC must stop this 70% criminal deduction immediately. If you dey suffer this same thing for Aba or any part of Nigeria, make you comment. Make we yarn. This nonsense must stop. CC: Lalasticlala, Seun, Mynd44 |

One of our houses had same issue. Our caretaker had to settle the marketer with 30k for the arrears to be cleared. is NERC working? Before they respond, it may reach 6 months. In our street, people were paying the installers 50-70k to get additional meter at the spot. To get additional meter for free, you have to go to their office to create a new account. That one fit reach 8 months sef. I am glad our main house was connected to prepaid many years ago when EEDC was still incharge before abapower took over. Today, I noticed they increased price from 190 naira to 225 naira per kwh. |

Everybody just tire for geometric in ABA. People are paying for estimated arias billing of which they never enjoyed. That was how my church was asked to pay twice from what was being charged, as the current bill. The church was paying between #500,000 -#550,000, all of a sudden, they began to bill them #1,100,000-#120,000,000. Everybody in ABA is crying over the crazy billing from geometric power. The Governor need to intervene. The governor also need to do something over his government excruciating tax regime. This present government is taxing abians to pains. I don't know if geometric is copying the government in billing or Abia government is copying geometric. |

Correct. They increased price. Lots of things you said here is news to me. I had no clue. Really? The arrears can be cleared if you grease palms? Even get additional meters if you pay on the spot? Wish I knew all these. jmoore: |

It's too much. What has been happening seems like a joke, except it isn't a joke. They're dead serious. Before they installed the meters, you may not see light for weeks on end, and you're thinking, "they will bring small bill because light spoil," instead the bill they bring at the end of the month would shock you to your bone marrow. Like a joke, except it isn't a joke at all. DaniDani: |

Petition NERC, some of those arrears are fraudulent... If you petition them they'll investigate and compensate you |

Talking from experience, those meters are all arrears preloaded All metered feeders are moved to band B that is each unit cost N220 - N225 . Ph road, uratta and ukwa urban feeders have been moved to band B. I personally went to their office at ikot ekpene road and made necessary enquiries about arrears. Provided your building isn't a newly built house, just buckle up to pay debts. Install a sub meter so everyone pays based on their submeter reading. Positive spin is the arrears deduction must end and after that everyone go bear him papa name. Better still you can pay it off and be done with it. ibinaboonline: |

He was being sarcastic, mocking us. The app shows arrears from before Aba Power took over from PHCN. The arrears on there is far more than what was printed on the nepa bills. IduNaOba: |
