Anambra Youths Ignore Election, Focus On Football by DiamondsAreFore(op): 11:40am On Nov 08, 2025
As the Anambra State governorship election holds, some individuals continued with their normal activities in parts of Awka, the state capital.

Small markets were open while some men were found playing football at street corners.

However, at Okpuno and Mgbakwu, near Awka, voters were seen trickling in for accreditation.

At Uruotulu, Awka, a mobile town crier drove around with public address system mobilising voters to come out and vote.

“Come out and voter, wherever you are,” he said.

As of 8:54 a.m., voting was yet to commence at Polling Units 004 and 005, Umuobi Village Hall, Awkuzu, though electorates were already lined up, waiting for INEC officials to be fully set.

Security personnel were also stationed at the venue. One of the officers told us “everything is in order” and there was “no security threat so far.”

Meanwhile, business activities were picking up near the polling centre, with provision shops open and food vendors attending to voters.

A food seller, Justina Oyibo, said she came out to make some sales since voters will need something to eat, while another vendor, Grace Igwebuike, noted that many voters left home early without breakfast, adding that as they vote, they can eat.

This is one of the the results of the rigging of 2023 election.

It will be difficult to get people to ever believe in the concept of voting again.

Congratulations to Soludo in advance.

cheesy
Can you really blame them? Ask yourself this question, do you think our votes count? Do you think these people don't already know the winner before today? How many of us na still get belief on our leaders? In the next general election eeh, I'm not sure I go vote except a candidate promises free DNA test. Majority of us don lost faith in the government jare. If only someone told us in 2015 say APC go be like this 10yrs later, we for doubt. And funny enough, it gets worse in every new dispensation. Don't blame dem jare, football dey more profitable to dem than queueing up to vote and dem may still rig it. If no politician agree to give DNA, I go dey house dey sleep during 2027 election.

What do I even know sef aside enlightening my fellow men nationwide with the good news of DNA test

Nowhere in the world is voting 100% of the electorate, especially in local or statewide elections.

They would soon be here claiming neglect.

Excuses as usual. They know who is going to win plus not everyone vote.
Even in the US less than half of registered voters come out especially on off general elections.
We get more voters during general national elections.
