I Won’t Bow To Intimidation Or Blackmail – Wike Blasts Ex-Naval Chief by SamGift0817(op): 5:07pm On Nov 11, 2025
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed not to succumb to intimidation or blackmail after an encounter with soldiers who reportedly blocked his access to a disputed piece of land in Abuja.

A viral video showed Wike confronting a soldier who insisted he had been ordered not to let the Minister enter the property. The exchange drew public attention, raising questions about the use of military personnel in a civil matter.

Speaking to journalists after the incident, Wike disclosed that the soldiers acted on the instructions of a former Chief of Naval Staff. He expressed shock that a retired senior officer would resort to such actions rather than following due process.

“The officer said he was sent by the former Chief of Naval Staff. I don’t understand how someone who once held that position cannot approach my office to explain the situation,” Wike said.

He condemned what he described as an attempt to use security forces to obstruct lawful government activities, insisting that he would not be intimidated.

“Is it because he is a military man that he feels he can use soldiers to intimidate Nigerians? I am not one of those who will bow to blackmail or threats,” the Minister stated.

Wike added that any claim of ownership must be backed by proper documentation and legal procedures, not force. “Where are the documents?” he asked. “You can’t stop government officials from doing their work and then bring in soldiers to block them. That’s unacceptable.”

Your choice of words are too vague as a minister. You should be watching what you say Mr Wike,

Don't you understand an order, that officer was given an order, confronting him is a pure waste of time as you can use other order to get what you wanted

And to the officer claiming he has integrity, you are wrong, you are not acting on court order but your boss order. Your boss could have get court order with the integrity without confrontation

The ex chief of naval staff abused his power. It's unacceptable. Wike is not working for himself, he's working for the president of the federal republic of Nigeria

That's why Wike should have left the scene. Wike is more closer to the presidency than the Navy officer, he can use that advantage later

Lol. He's welcome to try. He's merely using his position to settle an old score by revoking a title of an Admiral that has served this country at the highest level. Did you notice Wike spoke to the CDS on phone but nothing changed? There are levels to this thing o. The military is an hierarchy and is fully regimental.

So a former Naval chief would block a sitting minister? Let's watch as it unfolds. That can't happen in a sane country.

What a masterclass in using military might to silence a minister. Bravo to the ex-naval chief for leveraging his position to intimidate politician. I mean, who needs due process when you can just block someone's access with soldiers? The fact that he thought he could get away with it is truly admirable.
Re: I Won’t Bow To Intimidation Or Blackmail – Wike Blasts Ex-Naval Chief by aribisala0(m): 10:19pm On Nov 11, 2025
Wike is not likeable but this is straightforward
Can he do this in Lagos or even his own state of origin

The FCT Minister is the deputy of the President in the. FCT and wields and exercises Land Use powers on behalf of the president who delegates such powers to him

One of the things that makes coups possible is the repeated deployment of military personnel on illegal duty

A common one is the airport
A retired general travels and his military aides enter the airport in an unruly way ignoring established rules
Civilians then get used to seeing soldiers in places they are not supposed to be until they eventually do a coup

Just last week Navy invaded police station

Why do some of you keep taking irresponsible and dangerous position on national issues? Is everything about politics to you? Tomorrow when a private soldier molest Atiku, you will come here and cry about it.

Abuja is governed by the FCT minister irrespective of who he is. When FCT officials go out on official duty, no one has the power to obstruct them from carrying out their official duties. The military are under the absolute authority of the civilian administration in a democracy. They take order from the civil administration.

Again, on no condition should soldiers be deployed to guide a private property of a retired soldier not to talk of using them to obstruct official government duties. It is only the president that can deploy the military in such manner. Whoever deployed those boys there will be fished out and disciplined.

You see that land, it is gone forever. Even if the former CNS has a valid title, it will be revoked. And you see those soldiers, they will face disciplinary action for professional misconduct.

Nigeria is a democracy , imagine an ex naval chief! It's a signal the presidency should not ignore. See how Burutai who couldn't deal with BK haram was quick to issue statements. That's why there are rumors of coup.

Nigeria must demystify the armed forces now, we are not under millitary dictatorship. If I am the president I ll start by bringing in Mercenaries to solve our security issue first, that will demystify those paper generals

Not all orders are legal.

So the soldiers can be given an order to enter your house and sleep with your daughter

Legal or no illegal order, there is no way that young Navy officer would have allowed Wike to enter the land. So Wike arguing with him was a waste of time
