WIKE VS NIGERIAN NAVAL OFFICERS

What does the law says?

We may be happy that Wike met his match today.

We may even say, dem serve am the food of intimidation wey him sef dey serve others

But, regardless of our personal opinion The law is not emotional and will never be

Under the law, a military officer does not have the right to intervene in land dispute matters. Talkless of the stopping a Minister from inspecting a Land.

Under the Land Use Act, Land ownership belongs to the Governor of the State, of which Wike is equivalent to in the FCT.

Land disputes are civil cases and even the Police doesn't have the right to intervene, until there is a crime, like fighting

The basic responsibility of the Nigerian Military, is to defend Nigeria from external aggression.

Maintain the territorial integrity and secure the borders.

Suppress insurrection and act in aid of civil authorities to restore order (under specific conditions and Presidential directive only).

Any attempt by a military officer like what we saw today, to assert jurisdiction or forcibly intervene in a non-military land dispute is unlawful and an abuse of power.

That Military Officer and who ever sent them on that mission, needs to face punishment for acting outside their legal jurisdiction.

It is an insult to our democratic ruling, to have military officer sent to protects ordinary Land.

A civil case for that matter, o no

Ignorance of the law is no excuse

There are way too many ignorant online posters and uninformed people on the street level putting up puerile and selective reasonings in support of indiscipline by military personnel because Nyesom Wike is involved. Later on or down the road when the military indiscipline is TURNED on them (like the ruthless BANEX Plaza invasion episode of about 3 years ago via a military invasion of that Plaza), they would start shouting on social media for help to rescue them.

Chai ! Land owners will start hiring soldiers to chase Ikwerre land grabbers in Abuja.
Odibola has been doing it successfully in PH.

The Ikwerre land grab in Abuja is under threat.

He stop land grabber from taking over his Boss land. Somebody thinks he can intimate the young man (OFFICER) with thousands of policemen and SSS in his entourage. Same police they supposed to deploy to stabilize insecurity in Benue and Plateau was given to one individual because he a minister
If that Land was acquired illegally, FCT will take it back.

You are perfectly right anyway, but what's right in Nigeria? Everything in this country is awkward and zig zaggly done ....in the first place, why would an ex Navy Chief ordered that young officer to be manning a building site, that's an awkward task for an officer of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria, that he's been paid from citizens tax. That's bad enough and shouldn't have been, you don't ordered an officer to go carry out a task beside the regular defence job in which he's been trained to do. His first loyalty is to Nigeria and not to be a maigaurd to an officer building site ........nothing goes well in this country anymore.....more reason you see a senator of the Republic fighting over a girl he abducted at 17years of age and still sitting as a Senator of the Republic till now......should have been suspended tey tey when discovered she was 17years when cornered into marriage..........
In other words, and with all due respect, you are excusing anarchy

Before you condem someone actions why don't you fist ask what wike did to be on the law side. Because he is a minister does not give him the right to barge into anyone property. Did wike respect himself ?NO
IF he did the normal thing is to invite the admiral that owns the property,if the man refuses to come then he can report the man to his military authorities and even more to the commander in chief ,you don't just barge into someone property and start constituting a nuisance.
The point is wike is used to dealing with politicians and civilians this way and maybe he thought he could talk to the young officer the same way he usually lambast dino, atiku and other pdp members
Yes, but that does not give a soldier the right to disobey the Minister

You guys will be saying we don't do things right and then dump it becaise politics

Two wrongs don't make a right. Whether na tinubu or anyone else

Or you go gree if this happened under GEJ? You will be saying northerners are at it again

As for me, whoever is in charge , a soldier has no right to disobey a minister of the republic. Don't support bad thing. I no like tinubu and wike, and at the same time, I no supprt wrongs

ALTERNATEID:
He should be disciplined immediately for professional misconduct. His behavior was completely disgraceful and unacceptable. In a democracy, the military take orders from the civilian government and not the other way round.

The land in question is vested in the minister and no one else. That place is not a military barrack. It is a land that is governed by civil authority. Immediately the FCT minister ordered him out of the place, he has no reason not to comply. Preventing the FCT minister from accessing the land is the height of irresponsibility. It should never happen again.
honestly so many foolish people in this country. I don’t like Wike, but the office of the Minister of FCT should always be respected. Unless the order is from the president

I doubt if you aware the same scenario happened to Sanwo Olu and Police officer.

Meanwhile, the 2 scenarios are different, why the senior military officer came on his own to disobey traffic rules, the navy here was posted there by higher superior officer, it's Wike that is not supposed to be arguing with low ranking officer that far below him, he supposed to leave there or call higher authority to order them to leave the place, but since he is egoistic, he wanted to force and he was degraded.
spot on! Wike didn't need to go to there. He can call the new chief of naval staff and the soldiers will be taken away, but his gara gara won't allow him.

A Port Harcourt based company, Hyper City Retail Limited is building a shopping mall on an Abuja plot of land meant for a memorial in honour of construction workers and hawkers killed in a 2008 building collapse on the site, Daily Trust investigations have revealed.

The land, located in Utako District of Abuja, the Federal Capital City, had its original allocation title revoked by then Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Aliyu Modibbo Umar to serve as a deterrent to property developers for violating building regulations.

Situated on the road leading to Jabi Motor Part on P.O.W. Mafemi Crescent, the plot is numbered 230, Cadastral Zone B05, Utako District.

It is now a beehive of activities as the construction of a sprawling shopping mall has reached an advanced stage.

Investigations revealed that construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc is handling the project on behalf of Hyper City Retails Limited, which has a chain of supermarkets in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

A visit to the company’s website showed that Hyper City Retails has four branches in the Rivers State capital.

They are located on Tombia Road, Opposite Polo Club, New GRA; Eastern Bypass Roundabout, Ogbunabali; Ikoku Junction, Olu-Obasanjo Road, Adjacent Ikwerre Road and Slaughter Roundabout, Trans-Amadi Road, Ogingba.

Findings revealed that the company was registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on May 18, 2022, with registration number 1931320 as a private company limited by shares.

He's a brilliant officer who kept his calm and remained professional even in the face of verbal assaults by an uncouth, whiskey addicted mistake of an FCT Minister who should be in the Motor park and no where near Government.

This young officer showed class and maturity, [something Wike clearly lacks] thereby distinguishing himself as a thorough bred professional.

Imagine Wike talking about "impunity and the rule of law"

saphiere:
His name is Lt AM Yerima, hails from Kaduna state.

Both Lt. A.M Yerima and Wike didn't communicate effectively (or with emotional intelligence). Both of them are guilty to varying degrees of being "egotistic" or not being self-aware in their communication as can be seen in the screenshot and the video.

However, Nyesom Wike is the FCT Minister and should have been accorded that respect by the young military men. He is like a State Governor overseeing the administration of the FCT.

I still remember how the former Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Raji-Fashola got a senior Army officer arrested for using the BRT lane. The officer even had to come out of his vehicle and saluted Babatunde Raji-Fashola in a photograph that went viral online. Period.
Fashola for try go collect land wey belong to Chief of Naval Staff, he go sey wether anybody go salute am that day.

Your comparison is wrong. Caught red handed breaking a traffic law us not on the same scale of using your office to take over landed property that is worth hundreds of millions after I have retired.

So, in your ignorant assumption, the military officer will disobey his superior and obey Wike, which means, any other person can order military to leave strategic and sensitive place, because minister or gov order them

With Ur belief, the president life and position are in jeopardy.
ignorance of the law isn't an excuse.

You're under civilian authority. Even if that land belongs to the military man, he can't stop government from coming there to do their legitimate work.

I know long years of military rule has taken its toll on your ability to comprehend simple law and duties and obligation.

But that's why I'm here, to help you.

Now drop your gun and come to class.

I want to show you all the civilians every one including military personnel must comply and obey

He ought to be court marshalled ..he and who ever game him the order ...the minister is senior in rank to his own chief of naval staff.a Governor is much more high ranking in civilian Government than a chief of army staff ..his equivalent is the minister of Defense..who the chief of defense staff still reports to..this is totally wrong and should be dealt with . soldiers has no say in civil matters especially land .
