Go to court would have been the solution but you and I know how it will end under this APC government. So yes if I have the influence and connection to stop a rogue government official from infringing on my right I will absolutely use it

Let me tell you if you want to learn. I have a younger brother who's a sergeant in the Army.
See eh! You see all the rank and files of the military, they're only answerable to their superiors. Most of them don't know the president in person or work directly with him, so whatever order they may take from the president will come from their superiors.
For example, if Wike had shown that soldier a warrant or later from Mr President or even put a call for him to speak with Mr President, he still have the right not to bulge until he hears from his direct bosses. He will only obey the president in that instance out of fear or eye service. But in their true constitution, it's that his boss or another superior officer that can make him change his course there.
"That's why you hear the military adage "obey the last order or obey before complain"

How can a ministry or an agency of govt be on enforcement and then u say u follow orders.. however, where wike is to be blamed is his slowness to call d CNS Or CDS to order his boys out. Altogether. but it's responsible for the minster to call a country military man a big fool telling him to shut up? Some of you are cowards hence why politicians or rich man step on your head. There is order of hierarchy in the military. It's not even right for the president to directly order lower/foot soliders, the order has to come from the president to the chief of defense staff, then to service chief, and other hierarchy before it gets to the foot solider. Chain of command is extremely important in the military. Wike can't just go there and tell a military man following command to move and disobey his order. He should call higher hierarchy, then that higher order will call the military man to move. You think say military na beans abi.

Wike should have asked his superior to speak to him,instead of abusing him.

Wike, a mere political appointee, has only succeeded in provoking every single proud military man in the country. This was posted on the page of the Defence HQ. Wike should be thanking the military for their service, not openly calling one doing his duty a fool. The military is the only job in the country where you're sworn to lay down your life for the country, if need be.

I have lost almost all respect for them. When you turn against hapless Nigerians and brutalize them, you become a failure.

Wike was the wrong one here

I must state that Wike is a great man,no doubt. He was doing his rightful duties inspecting that asset. He was wrong when he tried to enforce anything there. That was outside his jurisdiction

Enforcement belongs to the jurisdiction of enforcement officers

Also why trade words and insult an officer on duty? He should simply have escalated the matter officially,that was where he got it wrong. Get the comading officers name his barracks and the source of his others and address it

That said,the officer should be admired for standing his ground,and bearing himself well.

Our elected executive arm of Government are obviously missing a key training on procedures,wike should have known he cannot turn down a military order by himself.

"I am on orders,I am an officer of the armed forces you cannot talk to me like that"....military should give the guy a raise.

The soldiers behaviour is really concerning however i believe he reponded to Wike's unwholesome remarks.
Also Wike has been behaving above the law by revoking people land even witj papers and showing corruption tendencies via yhe news being circulated.
Rather than revoke people property, u can give them some time to develop it or sell it or reissue them another one in place of the one in contention.
It about fairness and eagerness to do thing in a just manner

You are talking as if you have forgotten the kind of country you live in. This is one of the most backward societies in the world. A society where people are cool with soldiers beating them in the streets. You would even hear them joke about how a naval boy can beat better than a soldier or vice versa. A complete shithole in every meaning of the word. That soldier would lose his commission of this were a working society. Wike is a stupid man hated by many of us but then that soldier getting involved in land dispute drags in the mud the reputation of the army

You're right and if the soldier dare moved or abandoned the line he was supposed to handle because of Wike he'll be charged with mutiny from his constituted authority that gave him that order. That's an unbecoming of an expected soldier, he could be derank or even lose his uniform.

The soldier was not under orders from the retired personnel but his own bosses who have power to assign him to any other duties from time to time.

If you get sense, you for know say that development will not be completed on that same day. So the minister can take out time to engage the superiors and still meet the project in development stage when he returns.

See example wey you give. Something that is urgent and important versus something that is important but not urgent.

I'm not surprised by the soldier’s behavior. Nigerian soldiers are notorious for being disrespectful and intimidating. They’re often used by civilians to settle personal or civil disputes. I actually admire that Wike stood his ground against him. You’d never see an American soldier act like that, never. Everyone has their own role: Wike was doing his, while the soldier overstepped and did someone else’s. He should be on the battlefield tackling insecurity, not confronting a minister on orders from a retired officer. Is he a lawyer?
