The players are just gambling with the future of their careers....

If Nigeria doesn't qualify for the WC, it's the players not we that will be most affected.
Re: Super Eagles Boycott Training Over Pay Dispute by drkrest(m): 2:43pm On Nov 12, 2025
England football players get paid approximately £2,000 per match, though since 2007, they have donated this money to the England Football Foundation, which then gives it to charity. This means players do not receive the match fee directly. The amount is the same for both the men's and women's national team. The super eagles have the most important match of their careers and they decided to jeopardise this because of bonus. There is nothing like national pride.

They should bother playing sef.

No need to qualify cos they won't still get the world cup bonus from NFF

For all we know this could just be a red herring so that the Gabonese would think there is problem in our camp
So boycotting a training session is an effective way to deceive gabon grin

Do you know they will now have fewer sessions to gel together? Maybe 2 more light sessions before the match

Is that a smart tactics to deceive you opponent?

NFF at it again. These guys know NFF more than us. They may not get the payment again after the match
The whole saga could be a ploy to make them looks disorganised or vulnerable to their opponents. You know in football, the opponents teams put more efforts when they know you are the favourite.

I doubt NFF can make such mistakes at this crucial time.

Don't mind those who are quick to condemn NFF withiout proper understanding of football psychology. Eagle are clearly the favourite, a negative news from them could indirectly weaken the psychological approach of their opponents to the game, especially their first match against Garbon.

If they scaled through the first match, they can easily assess the tactics and deficiencies of the team they will meet in the final by their first match.

Nigerian government is notoriously irresponsible, especially when it comes to goodwill for the masses.

It is a shame that some nonentities still ask why ASUU, resident doctors, etc go on strikes, when the only sensible question should be: why ain't they remaining on strike?

Similar to this narrative, ASUU president also mentioned the billions of naira they decided to dash the govt in goodwill, only for the govt to continue owing them their fresh entitlements again.

Those boys should not play! Infact the super eagles should be scraped. We will continue like that till every tangible thing in the country is scrapped.

Lol... As long as they are doing well in their clubs, they will be fine.

We failed to qualify for the last one, the skies did not fall.

Owing people agreed allowances since 2019 is beyond reproach... FIFA should even santion Nigeria for this, cos huge funds were released to the nation.

The people who don't care are the NFF heads... They just embezzle without conscience... No Patriotism whatsoever.

I don't trust NFF either, but this particular one could be a pure psychological trick.

Nigerians are knows for their quick die munites intervention when they needed results. NFF can't afford to gamble with a slighted error at this crucial time. Ordinarily they would have promise them double of their pays to earn the ticket but decided to use a reverse psychology to weaken their opponents this time.

I remember jay jay okocha in France 1998.

He dyed his hair and played out his heart because he knew he was playing in the world's biggest football stage.

PSG came calling and paid a record transfer fee and the rest is history.

The players need the world cup for exposure to get better clubs. But if they choose to gamble, so be it.
