With all the available opportunities they have in the UK, they choose to become phone snatchers and pickpockets.

They were probably born there…into single parent families, with little or no extended family support! Added to the mix are those Nigerians who relocate with their families to the uk when they’re still quite young and impressionable! It’s hard to find Nigerians who were born in the UK into families with both parents present and who have a strong extended family network going off the rails like this….likewise Nigerians who relocated into the UK in adulthood (early 20s and above)!

Also where they live and grow up also has some influence on their character! Kids of Nigerian parentage that grow up in places like Peckham are more susceptible to negative peer group influences than those growing up in areas less densely populated and with a lesser proportion of blacks!

That’s really sad to read.
It’s unfortunate to see young Nigerians wasting their potential on crime, especially abroad where discipline and opportunity could have built a better future for them. These stories should be a wake up call for others quick money and shortcuts never end well. It’s better to struggle honestly and build something small than risk your freedom and name for temporary gains. Hopefully, others learn from this and choose a different path.

As children, parents will be spending all their time working like crazy to build houses in Nigeria and ignoring the educational aspects of their lives as well as the friends they are keeping.

No one else can tell the children off apart from them, children then grow up to have zero intention in furthering their education or having any direction in life.

Meanwhile, those children that arrived from Nigeria with their dutiful parents are going into higher education and being useful to the society as their moral compass is still intact.

I remember saying this to one or two Nigerian children over there that were starting to go the wrong way, the soceity in abroad already have a prison cell waiting for you, it is up to you not to take up that spot they have reserved.

Hopefully they come out reformed and are able to help those younger ones with their stories, odds are against it though, shame.

It's not the growing, It's the not making time to nurture them that's the issue.

In that same UK, a lot of children of Nigerians excel too.
