Wow! I remember that kerosene thing. I've seen it work in driving out snake from it's hiding corner when I was much younger.

In my village, my people use dry pepper too.... When you put dry pepper in fire, snakes will run out from its hiding place in the room

Or combine sniper with any of the two mentioned.
