Those saying the military guy disrespected civilian authority are wrong.

Civilian and military don't operate the same chain of command.

If Wike gives and order and the Chief of Naval Staff gives a different order, in 100% of cases the military officer will obey the Chief of Naval Staff.

That's how the military works.

For me, the officer exercised great restraint despite being called a fool repeatedly. What if he changed it for Wike there and then?

A civilian cannot order a military personnel around. If you have issues with the personnel, approach his superiors to get him to obey.

Till then, you're only wasting your time.

Wike got served because that was what his actions deserved, has nothing to do with him being a non-Northerner. This kind of mindset of tribalising everything is not a good one, it takes focus away from the actual issue.

The business of the service chiefs is that the military was invited to guard the land. Ideally, those military guys have a chain of command which stops at the office of the Chief of Naval staff for Navy, then to the Chief of Defence staff who then reports to the president.

It's not put of place to involve the service chiefs since at Mike's level, he has access to them.

Who Is Paying the Fees Of Those who were Stationed On The Abuja Land?

Ok Wike is brash and loud. The pertinent question is why is a military officer and soldiers guarding a construction site? Is it a military installation, barracks or house classified military materials?

Even a retired military officer still giving command to military officers is an aberration. Is that a lawful command? A retired office only entitled to military escorts, secretary etc. This incident is taking us back to the dark days of military rule.

It’s just disgraceful that many Nigerians don’t get this and are hailing the officer for standing down Wike. The military should be confined to their barracks with little or no interaction with civilians. Not the case with Nigeria. Everyday military officers brutalize innocent civilians and we accept vat as normal.

This Wike incident is a microcosm of the daily misuse of privelege by our military personnel

Wike was characteristically rash and brash on that occasion, like they say, he's more brawns than brains. His biggest enemy is his over bloated ego and not his political opponents. Tinubu needs to reflect on Wikes many excesses and ask himself if he is truly an asset or a liability to him. The worst part is that he's made more enemies than friends even in the cabinet and add to that, the seeming cold war between him and the retired generals.

There’s nothing Tinubu can do for now, Wike has helped him in 2023 so he needs to pay back. I feel Tinubu has now fully paid him back by handing over Rivers state structure back to him and not penalizing him for this action.
